Bethlehem Lutheran Church To Host Dinner Oct. 23
FALCONER – Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Falconer will host a takeout chicken and biscuit dinner from 4:30 p.m. until sold out Thursday, Oct. 23. The price will be $10 for adults and $5 for children under 6. Dinner, vegetables and dessert are included. The church is located at 20 North Phetteplace St., Falconer. UPMC Chautauqua To Host Blood Drive
The Community Blood Bank of Northwest Pennsylvania and Western New York will hold a blood drive at UPMC Chautauqua from 8 a.m. to noon Thursday, Oct. 23. The Community Blood Bank is the sole provider of blood to all local hospitals, and every donation is vital to ensuring a stable supply for patients undergoing surgeries, cancer treatments, and trauma care. Call 814-456-4206 to schedule an appointment to donate. Appointments are encouraged to reduce wait time but are not required. Walk-ins will be taken as space allows. Community Blood Bank partners with hospitals in Northwest Pennsylvania and Western New York to provide blood for patients in need. Those who are at least 17 years of age, weigh a minimum of 110 pounds, and are in good general health may be eligible to donate blood. Donors must have a valid photo ID to donate. Sinclairville Library To Host Poetry Workshop Oct. 24
SINCLAIRVILLE – John Brantingham, professor emeritus of creative writing, will host a free poetry class and workshop on Friday, Oct. 24 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Sinclairville Free Library, 15 Main St. Learn about contemporary poetry and participate in a writing workshop to compose poems. There is also an opportunity to participate in a poetry reading on Thursday, Nov. 13, when T Anders Carson and Kendall Johnson will present their poetry via Zoom. Local poets are invited to share their work during an in-person open mic afterwards.
Community Helping Hands To Open Christmas Room Oct. 25
Community Helping Hands will again have The Christmas Room open for shoppers to pick up all their Christmas decorating needs at very reasonable prices. Besides the previously loved items for sale, there are still new (still in the packages) items donated by a retailer to be sold at reduced prices. The grand opening of The Christmas Room is Saturday, Oct. 25 at 10 a.m. The room will be open until 3 p.m. Oct. 25 and then open on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 3 to 7 p.m., excluding the week of Thanksgiving, until Dec. 20. Community Helping Hands is located at 31 Water St., Jamestown. Revenue from The Christmas Room supports Community Helping Hands.
