Sinclairville Library Open Monday

SINCLAIRVILLE – The Sinclairville Free Library will be open normal hours on Monday for Columbus Day and Indigenous People’s Day. The library’s Makerspace and LEGO STEM areas will be available.

Falconer To Hold Special Meeting Wednesday

FALCONER – The village of Falconer is preparing to apply for two major state grant programs. Village board members invite local business owners to a special meeting at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15, at the Falconer Public Library, 101 W. Main Street, Falconer.

Sinclairville Library To Host Anecdotes

And Ancestors Oct. 18

SINCLAIRVILLE – Anecdotes and Ancestors with Tom Jordan on Saturday, Oct. 18, at 10:30 a.m. Former Sinclairville resident Dr. Tom Jordan will present a few anecdotes about some of the characters in his family tree as told to him by his dearly departed relatives. Penhollows, Harpers, Torreys, Edsons, and McClarans may be interested in attending. Afterwards at Evergreen Cemetery view a few of the graves of those discussed and assist with collecting ground penetrating radar data across areas of interest.

Start Nighttime Story Hour

SINCLAIRVILLE – The Sinclairville Free Library will hold a new nighttime story hour on the third Monday of each month. The first will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 20. Experience the characters of Jory John, bestselling author of children’s books, known for the Food Group series (The Bad Seed, The Good Egg), the Critter Gang series (Penguin Problems). Children can also craft their own Smart Cookie with a paper craft. Registration is requested. Space is limited. Story time is suitable for children ages birth and up, with parents/caregivers required to stay with children. Light snacks will be available.

Cornell To Speak At Marvin House Luncheon

The Marvin House will hold its October luncheon on Tuesday, Oct. 21, with Lori Cornell as the guest speaker. Cornell has more than 25 years of experience in public service, marketing and communications to her new role as the Gazette’s owner, publisher, and editor-in-chief. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Notre Dame and her Master’s in Strategic Leadership from St. Bonaventure University’s School of Business. A native of Dunkirk, she began her career in Washington, D.C., and is especially proud of her service as a locally elected official, as well as her contributions in several city, county, and state- appointed positions. She now resides in Bemus Point with her husband, Chuck, and their four sons–Benjamin, Nathaniel, Zachary, and Nicholas. The menu for the luncheon is beef short ribs with a fall salad and a berry parfait for dessert. Reservations can be made by calling 716-488-6206 or emailing marvinhouse@marvinhouse.com.
