AMVETS Auxiliary Post 726 To Meet Oct. 7
The AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary 726, operating at the ILS Veterans Club, 364 Fluvanna Ave., Jamestown, will hold their first fall meeting at 4 p..m today, October 7th. We are holding the meeting earlier in the day due to scheduling conflicts. The ladies will be discussing providing desserts to be sold at the upcoming spaghetti dinner on Saturday, October 11th. The proceeds of the bake sale will benefit the auxiliary and its programs. Any ladies interested in joining our auxiliary are welcome to attend.
Christian Women’s Group To Gather Oct. 14
The Jamestown-Warren Christian Women Village Missions Country Partners will hold its autumn harvest luncheon on Tuesday, Oct. 14, at noon at Fluvanna Community Church, 3363 Fluvanna Ave., Jamestown. The spiritual speaker is Pastor Tori Jordan, and violin music will be by Pastor Todd Wentworth. Bring a $1 brown bag item for exchange. Lunch is $7. The group is also collecting synthetic socks for military personnel Christmas packages to be sent overseas by Blue Star Mothers of Jamestown. Call Nancy Schuyler for a reservation at 716-294-3071. Chautauqua County Clerk Candidate Forum Is Oct. 14
The League of Women Voters of Chautauqua County will host a candidate forum between Gregory Carlson and Gregory Krauza, candidates for Chautauqua County Clerk, at 5 p.m. Oct. 14 at the Robert H. Jackson Center, 305 E. Fourth St.,Jamestown. All are invited to attend. Questions can be submitted to croxtonlwvchq@gmail.com or brought to the forum. Written questions will be submitted to the candidates and read by the moderator.
Falconer Village Board To Meet
FALCONER – The Falconer Village Board will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 14, in the Fire Exempts Hall, 3 Coleson Drive. The public is welcome to attend.
Civil Discourse, Civil Rights Class For Teachers Scheduled
The Holocaust & Social Justice Program of Chautauqua is hosting a teacher symposium around Civil Discourse and Civil Rights. The group has partnered with Facing History to bring the free professional learning experience for any teacher or administrator throughout Chautauqua County to come and discuss having difficult conversations in the classroom, hear from our teacher fellows who spent a week in Montgomery, Ala., this summer and have prepared dynamic lessons for all attendees to bring back to their districts. The session will be held from 8:15 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 16, at Lenna Hall, Chautauqua Institution.
