Sinclairville Library Schedules Special Events
SINCLAIRVILLE – The Sinclairville Free Library will hold several events from Oct. 6-13. On Monday, Oct. 6, from 6 to 7 p.m. the library will host a family night leaf painting event that uses real leaves to create unique designs and artwork. Paint (acrylic) is applied to the surface of a leaf, typically the underside to capture the texture of the veins. The leaf is then pressed onto paper to create a detailed impression. All materials are provided. Anyone from ages 3 and up is invited. Parents and caregivers must stay with their child. A poetry class and workshop will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 9, with John Brantingham, professor emeritus of creative writing. Brantingham will help those attending write poetry and publish it in magazines. Students have published in The New Yorker, McSweeneys, and The Paris Review among other places. The class is free. A poetry reading with poet Sarah Freligh will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 9, presented by Brantingham. The public is welcome to attend. The library will be open normal hours on Monday, Oct. 13, in observance of Columbus Day. The library’s Makerspace and LEGO STEM areas will be available.
