Superman To Show At Reg Lenna Center For The Arts

James Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy) takes on Superman (Wednesday, Sept. 10, at 7 p.m.) in the newly imagined DC universe.The “Man of Steel” is realized with a singular blend of epic action, humor and heart, delivering a hero who’s driven by compassion and an inherent belief in the goodness of humankind. Superman is rated PG-13 and is 130 minutes long. Upcoming Movies at The Reg include the music documentary It’s Never Over, Jeff Buckley (Sept. 17 at 7 p.m.), and the animated family film The Bad Guys 2 (Sept. 26 at 7 p.m. and a sensory friendly showing September 27 at 2 p.m.) Tickets for most Movies at The Reg are $8 in-person at the box office and $10 online (reglenna.com) and by phone at 716-484-7070. Family showings are $7 in-person at the box office and $9 online and by phone. Special engagements are priced differently. The theater and box office at The Reg are located at 116 E. Third St., Jamestown. The box office is open Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from noon to 5 p.m. and one hour before movies and events.

Chautauqua Lake Bridge To Be Closed Overnight Friday

The state Department of Transportation is advising motorists that the bridge carrying Interstate 86 over Chautauqua Lake between the towns of North Harmony and Ellery will be closed to traffic beginning at 9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 19, until 6 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, to facilitate an ongoing rehabilitation project. Motorists should follow the posted detour utilizing State Route 394 and State Route 430.

St. Luke’s Thrift Shop Open Today, Friday

St. Luke’s Thrift Shop, 409 Pine St., Jamestown, is open today, Sept. 18, and Friday, Sept. 19, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The shop is now stocked with fall clothing for men, women and children and fall items in the houseware department. All proceeds are used for local outreach.

Mayville Senior Citizens To Meet Saturday

MAYVILLE – The Mayville Senior Citizens will be meeting Saturday, Sept. 20, at noon at the VFW in Mayville, for a chicken barbecue luncheon and regular business meeting. Those attending are asked to bring a dish to pass. There will be a board meeting after the luncheon. All members are welcome to attend.

Fellowship To Host Kirk

Memorial Service

KIANTONE – A memorial service for Charlie Kirk will take place on Friday, Sept. 19, at 6:30 p.m. at Koinonia Christian Fellowship, 1427 Peck Settlement Road. The service will remember Kirk’s life, his impact and his faith. “This is not a service to idolize and canonize him,” said Pastor Mel McGinnis, “but to worship God, pray and have the message of the gospel shared, because that honors God and that’s what Charlie would want.” There will be brief eulogies, worship in song, and prayers for the family and the nation. All are invited especially those who mourn his death and desire to respectfully remember him and his family.
