SWCS Tax Bills Delayed

The Southwestern Central School District was prepared to issue the 2025/2026 school tax bills on Friday, Aug. 29. Shortly before issuing those bills, the District was contacted by both local and county real property tax officials who requested the district not issue the bills as planned. The district honored the request from the real property tax officials, and will continue to work with those officials to finalize and issue the bills in as timely of a manner as possible. The district will update the community with a timeline as soon as possible.

First Lutheran Church Returns To Regular

Schedule

First Lutheran Church will return to its regular service schedule starting Sunday, September 7th. The contemporary worship service will be at 9 a.m. in the Worship Center and 11 a.m. in the traditional worship in the church nave. The Rev. Adam Rohler will be guest preacher with Pastor Daniel K. Nagle will be the communion celebrant. The public is welcome to attend.

Outdoor Club To Ride In Allegany State Park

On Sunday, Sept. 7, members of the Allegheny Outdoor Club will ride bikes or hike at Allegheny State Park. Take the Red House exit and meet at the Red House parking lot before the entrance at 1 p.m. Pat Spicer will be the leader for the activity.

Bemus Point Library Board

To Meet

BEMUS POINT – The Bemus Point Library board will meet at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9, at the library. The public is welcome to attend.

Quilt Guild To Meet Sept. 10

BUSTI – The Chautauqua Region Quilt Guild will meet Wednesday, Sept. 10, at the Busti 5 Corners Community Church, the former Busti Federated Church, at the five corners in Busti. This month the community sew time will begin at 1 p.m. Refreshments will be available from 6 to 6:30 p.m. and the meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. Carol Cheney will be presenting a program on the history of barn quilts and how to make one. Members will be collecting at their September through November meetings pillowcases for the Boys and Girls Club as well as items for the Blue Star Mothers care boxes. A list of suggested items is available at the meeting or on the Blue Star Mothers website at www.bluestarmotherswny.com/donation-list. Visitors and new members are welcome.

Quilts Of Valor Group To Meet Sept. 12

LAKEWOOD – The Chautauqua Region Quilts of Valor group will meet at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept 12, at Quilters’ Haven. Some topics to be discussed: when and where the group’s next presentation will be and how many more quilts are needed. All are welcome to attend. Quilters’ Haven is in the Jamestown Mattress Plaza at 135 E. Fairmount Ave., Lakewood.
