Jamestown School Board To Meet Tuesday

The Jamestown Public Schools Board of Education will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 26, in the boardroom of the administration building, 197 Martin Road, Jamestown. A public hearing on the District-Wide School Safety Plan will be held at 5:45 p.m., prior to the meeting. The public is welcome to attend.

Ashville UMC To Host Food Bank Mobile Pantry Truck Tuesday

ASHVILLE – The Mobile Pantry Truck from the Food Bank of WNY will be at the Ashville United Methodist Church on Tuesday, Aug. 26, from 10 a.m. to noon and 3 to 5 p.m. Those receiving food must have completed a TEFAP form and meet the requirements to receive food, and live in one of the following zip codes: Ashville 14710, Bemus Point 14712, Celeron 14720, Lakewood 14750, Niobe 14758, Stow14785, and Busti. Those receiving food need to bring their own bags or boxes.

‘The Life Of Chuck’ To Show At Reg Lenna

From the hearts and minds of Stephen King and Mike Flanagan comes The Life of Chuck, (Wednesday, Aug. 27, at 7 p.m.) celebrating the life of Charles ‘Chuck’ Krantz as he experiences the wonder of love and the heartbreak of loss. The Life of Chuck is rated R and is 111 minutes long. Upcoming Movies at The Reg include James Gunn’s 2025 reboot of Superman (Sept. 10 at 7 p.m.), the music documentary It’s Never Over, Jeff Buckley (Sept. 17 at 7 p.m.), and the animated family film The Bad Guys 2 (Sept. 26 at 7 p.m. and a sensory friendly showing Sept. 27 at 2 p.m.). Tickets for most Movies at The Reg are $8 in-person at the box office and $10 online (reglenna.com) and by calling 716-484-7070. Family showings are $7 in-person at the box office and $9 online and by phone. Special engagements are priced differently. The theater and box office at The Reg are located at 116 E. Third St., Jamestown. The box office is open Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from noon to 5 p.m. and one hour before movies and events.

Lakewood Nursery To Host Event, Fundraiser For Kitten Rescue

LAKEWOOD – Mike’s Nursery in Lakewood is presenting the inaugural HouseplantApalooza festival Saturday, Aug. 30, from noon to 5 p.m. The event will feature more than a dozen local vendors and small businesses. In addition to houseplants, there will also be pottery, macrame, jewelry and more. Plant giveaways will be ongoing throughout the afternoon, with proceeds benefiting Lakewood Kitten Rescue, a local non-profit. The event is the brainchild of Mike’s Nursery’s manager Tyler Rhodes, and its owner Michael Krauth. The goal of the festival is to connect both houseplant enthusiasts as well as those just getting into the hobby with local vendors and retailers throughout the area.
