Valley School Board To Hold Special Meeting

SINCLAIRVILLE – A special meeting of the Cassadaga Valley Central School District Board of Education will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 23, in the middle/high school multipurpose room and via Zoom at zoom.us/j/95237387537. The public is welcome to attend.

Library To Host Golf Tournament July 27

FALCONER – The Kennedy Free Library will be hosting the third annual Susan L. Abbey Memorial Golf Tournament at Breezewood Links in Falconer on July 27 at 9 a.m. The tournament is a two-man scramble, par 3 course for 18 holes. The cost is $50 per person and will include lunch, pop, water, snacks and prizes. There will be skins, 50/50 giveaways, “Putt it to win it” game, and other fun events. All proceeds will benefit the Kennedy Free Library. Outdoor Club Schedules Ride, Kayak Events

On Sunday, July 20 the Allegheny Outdoor Club will ride the Elk County section of the Knox & Kane Rail Trail from the Forest County line to Route 66 south of Kane, a distance of 6 miles. This will be out and back on a packed limestone surface and hikers are welcome. The group will meet at Musante Street in Pleasant Township at 1:30 p.m. to car pool to the starting point on Sheffield Junction Road. Parking is limited. Greg Burkett is the leader. On Sunday, July 27, the Allegheny Outdoor Club will be canoeing/kayaking on the Allegheny River. Meet at Dairy Delite at the junction of Route 6 and Route 59 at 1 p.m. Bring sunscreen as well as a personal flotation device. Peter To is the leader of this activity.

City Workers’ Compensation Board Office To Close

The state Workers’ Compensation Board will permanently close its Jamestown location as of August 1. The site was already a virtual-only hearing location and, according to the state, was one of the smallest and lowest activity sites in the state. Requests for in-person hearings and appointments for Jamestown had been in Buffalo, something that will continue with the upcoming consolidation.
