Frewsburg Lions Club To Host Blood Sugar Screening
FREWSBURG – The Frewsburg Lions Club is providing a blood sugar screening at the Carroll Bicentennial Celebration from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 21, at the Frewsburg Firemen’s Grounds. Diabetes is one of Lions Clubs International’s eight global causes; along with vision, environment, childhood cancer, hunger, humanitarian needs, disaster relief, and youth. The Frewsburg Leo Club will provide a prediabetes risk test next to the Lions Club Screening table. The Frewsburg Lions Club will give a free $25 Tops gift certificate to one participant in the screening. Lions and Leos Club brochures will be available at the screening for anyone wishing to know more about how these groups help others locally and globally. Zone To Host
5K Fundraiser June 21
FREWSBURG – The Relief Zone fundraising committee is hosting a 5K Run/Walk on Saturday, June 21, at the Frewsburg Firemen’s Grounds to coincide with The Town Of Carroll Bicentennial festivities. Registration will begin at 7:30 a.m. with the race starting at 8:30 a.m. Following the race, The Relief Zone will be hosting an open house at their building, 5 Frew Run St., where winners will be announced. County To Host Rabies Clinic Saturday In
Kennedy
The Chautauqua County Health Department will hold a free rabies vaccination clinic sponsored by the town of Poland and the Chautauqua County Health Department from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 21, at the Poland Town Highway Garage, 533 Grub Hill Road, Kennedy. Animals must be pre-registered to receive vaccinations. Vaccinations will be provided free of charge to all dogs, cats, and domesticated ferrets three months of age and older. Pre-registration is required and should be submitted online by visiting HealthyCHQ.com/Rabies and view the calendar for upcoming clinics. There are a limited number of spots available, so pet owners should pre-register online as soon as possible. Those who register but decide not to attend the event are asked to cancel their appointment so the spot is available for another pet. Appointments can be canceled via the confirmation email received after registering. Pet owners must bring previous rabies vaccination records for each animal receiving a shot to ensure proper and effective vaccination; clinic staff will confirm previous rabies vaccination records. All dogs must be on a leash. All cats and ferrets must be in individual carriers. Animal handlers will transport animals to the veterinarian for vaccination.
First Lutheran Begins Summer Schedule
The First Lutheran Church announces its summer schedule of worship services. Beginning Sunday, June 22, through Sunday, Sept. 7, the traditional worship hour will be at 10:30 a.m. in Memorial Chapel. The 9 a.m. contemporary service will be held in the worship center, located in the lower level of the church. Pastor Mark E. Swanson will preside and preach at both services. The public is welcome to attend.
