Busti to Hold Memorial

Day Parade

The annual Busti Memorial Day Parade will begin at 9 a.m. Monday, May 26 at the site of the Tap House on Busti Sugar Grove Road. Any Troops interested in marching including former servicemen and women and those serving now should meet before 0900 at the starting site. Music will be provided by the Southwestern Central School Band. Pastor Ed Moore of the Busti Federated Church, Pastor Roy Ferguson of the Church of God, will preside over the ceremonies to be held at the Gazebo between the Fire Hall and the cemetery. Lakewood American Legion Post 1286 will participate in the services. The Busti Fire Department and Ladies Auxiliary invite the public to a free breakfast following the service.

To Meet May 27

BUSTI – The Hazeltine Public Library board will meet at 5 p.m. Tuesday, May 27, at the library, 891 Busti-Sugar Grove Road. The public is welcome to attend. For more information call the library at 716-487-1281.

Myers Library Schedules PJ Story Time

FREWSBURG – The Myers Memorial Library will host PJ Storytime on Tuesday, May 27, at 6:30 p.m. The library’s regular story time is every Thursday at 10 a.m. while the library’s Bring Your Own Baby story time is at noon Mondays. The Myers Memorial Library also has several books clubs that meet monthly and a crochet group that meets on Fridays at 5:30 p.m.

Sinclairville Book Club To Meet

In Cassadaga

A new chapter of the Chautauqua Literary and Scientific Circle book club is opening with a reading circle hosted by Erin Gray in partnership with the Sinclairville Free Library. The book club will meet in person at 3 Lakes Cafe in Cassadaga to discuss books from the CLSC book list. The first meeting will be held on Saturday, May 31, from 9 to 10:15 a.m. at the Cafe discussing The Queens of Crime: A Novel by Marie Benedict. Copies of this title are available for checkout with a valid library card at the Sinclairville Free Library.

YMCA Offering Sunday

Lifeguarding Class

The Jamestown YMCA will hold an American Red Cross lifeguarding class starting Sunday, June 1, meeting Sundays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Jamestown YMCA through June 22. Candidates need to be 15 prior to the last day of class. Upon successful completion participants will be certified in ARC Waterfront Lifeguard, CPR-Pro, First Aid and AED. The class costs $175. Fees include all materials and certification fees. The first day of class candidates will be required to take a swimming pre-test that includes jumping in the pool, resurfacing, swimming 150 yards using proper breaststroke and/or front crawl, treading water 2 minutes with legs only and then swimming swim 50 yards with proper crawl and/or breast stroke; then swimming 60 feet to recover a 10 pound object from the bottom of the pool and returning 60 feet with the object. All days of class will include classroom and pool time. Financial assistance is available.
