Lakewood Library Hosting Book Sale Sneak Peek

LAKEWOOD – The Lakewood Memorial Library is holding a spring book sale, starting with a sneak peek from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, May 7. Attendees will get first dibs on books, snacks, drinks, and be entered into prize drawings. Tickets are $10 and will be sold at the door, cash only. Regular sale days are Thursday through Saturday during regular library hours. The sale is cash only.

Guided Spiritual Meditations Scheduled At Area Libraries

Guided spiritual meditations will be held at the Myers Memorial Library and the Lakewood Memorial Library with Loretta Cheney. The first will be held from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, May 10, at the Myers Memorial Library in Frewsburg. For reservations, email director@myerslibrary.org or call 716-569-5515. Ross Grange To Meet May 12

FALCONER – The Ross Gange will have a dish to share lunch May 12 at the Falcon’s Nest in Falconer at 12:30 p.m. Following lunch the business meeting will include reviewing the display for the 150th anniversary of Ross Grange at the Falconer Library. Lecturer Betty Wakefield has announced the theme of her program will be Spring, Moms, Memorials and Gardens – The Different Joys and Sorrows of May. Beverages and place settings will be furnished. All interested are invited to attend.

Mothers Day Tea To Be Held May 13

RUSSELL – The Jamestown-Warren Christian Women Village Missions Country Partners will hold its Mothers’ Day Tea luncheon on Tuesday, May 13, at Praise Fellowship Church, Russell. Guest speaker and music will feature Kris and Renee Magnuson of Warren. Wear Mothers’ Day finery and a hat if available. Reservations are due by Saturday by calling Nancy Schuyler at 716-397-3674.

Breast Cancer Support Group To Gather

The Breast Cancer Support Group will meet at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 14, at Tasta Pizza in Falconer. Those attending should call Pat Carr for more details.

Lakewood Library Hosting Artist Talk May 14

LAKEWOOD – The Lakewood Memorial Library is hosting an art exhibit featuring work by Kaycee Colburn, a visual artist who creates both traditional Seneca and Modern contemporary pieces. Her work is rooted in her cultural heritage. The exhibit at Lakewood Memorial Library will feature a ribbon skirt, Native Hashtags collection, the Crying Woman and pieces from Jamestown’s first Six Nations flag raising which was led by Colburn at City Hall. Colburn will give an artist talk on Wednesday, May 14, at 5 p.m., to highlight the significance of representation in society. A closing reception will be held at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, May 29.
