Harmony Seniors To Meet May 1

The Harmony Senior Citizens will meet Thursday, May 1, at noon at the Panama Methodist Church. A tureen luncheon is planned and everyone is asked to bring a dish to pass and their own table service. Coffee and water will be provided. Hosts for the day include Karen Hurlbert, Toni Campbell, Betty Johnson and Richard Harper. Ellen Coffaro will provide the birthday cake. .A memorial service is planned for the members we have lost this year. Chaplain Marty LaFredo will conduct the service. In addition to the memorial service, Carey Skelton from the County Office for the Aging will give a presentation. All area seniors are invited and encouraged to attend.

Wegmans To Host Bingo

Fundraiser For United Way Today

Wegmans will hold an 80s-themed bingo night on Thursday, May 1, at the Celoron American Legion with all proceeds going to benefit United Way of Chautauqua County. Doors open at 5 p.m. with bingo starting at 6 p.m. Tickets are $35 per person and can be purchased at the Wegmans customer service desk or at the Celoron American Legion on the day of the event. A ticket buys 10 games with cash prizes. There will also be a gift basket giveaway, split raffles and mystery bags as well as refreshments available for purchase.

Area DARs To Meet Saturday

The state regent of the Daughters of the American Revolution will visit the Partridge Sheldon DAR house in Jamestown on Saturday, May 3 at noon. The visit will be part of the celebration of the anniversaries of the Jamestown chapter, the Benjamin Prescott Chapter of the DAR and the Major Benjamin Bosworth Chapter.

FREWSBURG – The Secret Lives of Pets (and How to be a Good Friend) will be held Saturday, May 3, at 11 a.m. The Chautauqua Humane Society will be bringing a furry friend to meet and leading a discussion for children and adults on topics including: responsible pet ownership, kindness for living things, animal emotions, and safety with animals.

Scholarship Fund Rummage Sale Is May 9-10

LAKEWOOD – The annual George L. Barone Jr. Scholarship Fund rummage and bag sale will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, May 9, and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 10, at the YWCA Lake Lodge, 185. E. Terrace Ave., Lakewood. The fundraising event is open to the public and invites attendees to fill a bag with items from the rummage sale for a donation of their choice. All proceeds go into the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation scholarship established in honor of George L. Barone Jr. The scholarship is awarded annually to a local academic athlete who demonstrates outstanding achievements in both academics and sports. The George L. Barone Jr Scholarship Fund aims to support and recognize the dedication and hard work of local student-athletes who excel both in the classroom and on the field. Donations can also be made by contacting the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation.
