Audubon Little Explorers To Gather March 8

The Audubon Community Nature Center will host its next Little Explorers at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 8, focusing on birds known as raptors, or birds of prey, which include birds such as hawks, eagles, owls, and falcons. Those attending can learn what birds of prey have in common and about the unique body parts and behaviors of birds of prey. There will be a hands-on lesson comparing bird parts such as talons, beaks and wings both on taxidermy raptors and real birds of prey. After the indoor lesson, head outside to look for signs of birds of prey, and find out more about their habitats. Visit the aviaries housing Audubon’s raptors: Bridgette and Soren, the Red-tailed Hawks, and Cricket, the American Kestrel. Learn more about the ways birds of prey hunt, survive, and adapt to their different habitats. A snack is provided after the hike and a craft is offered if there is time. Little Explorers happens regardless of the weather, so dress accordingly. The fee is $12 for adults, $9 for children ages 3-8 and Nature Center members. Enrollment is limited to 15 children, 30 participants total. To make a paid reservations by Thursday, March 6, call 716-569-2345 during business hours or go online to AudubonCNC.org/events.
