Fluvanna Free Library To Hold Holiday Craft Bazaar

On Saturday, Oct. 26, the Fluvanna Free Library will host its annual holiday craft bazaar from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Fluvanna Fire Hall, 3536 Fluvanna Ave. Ext., Fluvanna. There will be crafts, lunch items, a bake sale and basket giveaway. Various soups, chili and hot dogs will be on sale as well as coffee and soft drinks. All proceeds benefit the Fluvanna Free Library. Cassadaga Legion Auxiliary To Host Vendor Show Saturday

CASSADAGA – The Cassadaga Legion Post 1280 Auxiliary will host its annual vendor show from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday in the legion hall, 228 Maple Ave. Cassadaga. A variety of vendors will attend. There will be a homemade bake sale and soup and sandwich lunch items for purchase. The auxiliary is also collecting nonperishable food items for the local food pantry. Those who bring a donation will be entered to win a large Post 1280 two-topping pizza.

To Host Free Workshop

The Chautauqua Youth Symphony will host a free workshop for young musicians on Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon at the Lost Recording Studio in Jamestown. This event invites all musicians in sixth through 12th grades who play violin family stringed instruments. The session is led by Bryan Eckenrode, Chautauqua Youth Symphony director, and string educator Mariana Mathewson-Bernstein and will provide participants with techniques and insights to enhance their playing. Attendees will have the unique opportunity to observe and participate in a Chautauqua Youth Symphony rehearsal. The Lost Recording Studio is located at 106 E Second St., Jamestown.

Prehistoric Earth Works Discussed At Sinclairville Library

SINCLAIRVILLE – The Sinclairville Free Library will host “A Review Of Prehistoric Signal And Burial Mounds In Chautauqua County” at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 26. The presentation by Dr. Tom Jordan will include historian Paul Sheeler, past president of the Historical Society of Dunkirk. Together, they collected Ground Penetrating Radar data from a pre-historic signal mound at Van Buren Point earlier this year. Their talk will focus on these pre-historic earth works and similar earth works located along the Lake Erie shoreline near Ripley as well as background information on the ancient burial mounds that were once located near Sinclairville, Cassadaga and Gerry. Those that can provide additional details on the location of the Sinclairville, Cassadaga and Gerry burial mounds are encouraged to attend so these areas can be investigated further with the GPR, if landowners are receptive. The GPR will be available for all ages interested in collecting data. The library is located at 15 Main St., Sinclairville.
