LAKEWOOD – The public is invited to a Books, Bites & Bids, a fundraiser to support the Lakewood Memorial Library’s operating and program costs. The fundraiser will feature items from Mable Roads as well as a cash bar for wine, beer, and non-alcoholic beverages. Tickets are $70 a person and include food items available as well as one free drink ticket. There will be items given away and a silent auction. Sponsors include Chautauqua Chemicals Company and Miraclean. Purchase tickets online at www.lakewoodlibrary.org.
Library To Offer Zentangle Class Sept. 16
SINCLAIRVILLE – A basic Zentangle class with Brenda Nickerson will be offered at the Sinclairville Free Library on Monday at 5 p.m. All materials will be provided for participants to learn the Zentangle method of drawing, an easy-to-learn way to create images by drawing structured patterns called tangles. The class is for both beginners and those who are already familiar with the drawing method. The library is located at 15 Main St., Sinclairville. Presentation On Chautauqua
Lake Region
LAKEWOOD – The Lakewood Memorial Library will host an exploration of the history of the Chautauqua Lake region and its surrounding hills at 5 p.m. Sept. 18. Wahl’s presentation will take those attending back through time to learn about the important events in the evolution of the present landscape, including ancient oceans with 15-foot long crustaceans and mile-thick glaciers. Wahl is a local educator and geology instructor at Jamestown Community College. Holding degrees in geology and environmental biology, he’s an environmentalist and advocate for sustainable systems. Wahl will explore the backstory behind the Chautauqua Lake region, including how the lake and surrounding hills came to be.
Paul Leone To Share Stories Sept. 19
CHAUTAUQUA – Paul Leone, local author and professional storyteller, will share some stories of interesting happenings and characters of local folklore at 7 pm. Thursday, Sept. 19, at the Chautauqua Town Historical Society meeting in the meeting room of the Chautauqua Town Building, 2 Academy St, Mayville. Leone has performed and conducted workshops in storytelling venues throughout western New York, and is the author of seven books including the popular Chautauqua Ghosts. The event is open to the public and is free of charge. All who are interested are invited and are welcome to attend.

The Ellicott Town Board will hold budget workshops on Sept. 24-25 at 5 p.m. in the town board room at 215 S. Work St., Falconer. The public is welcome to attend.
