Lakewood Library To Open Author’s Art Exhibition Thursday
LAKEWOOD – The Lakewood Memorial Library will host an exhibition by James Vincent in the library’s gallery in September. An opening reception is scheduled for Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. All are welcome to attend. The library is located at 12 W. Summit St., Lakewood. “I graduated from Buffalo State Teachers’ College where I acquired a BS degree and my MS degree in art education,” Vincent said. “I taught art for 32 years full time to Junior High and High School students. However, as an educator in art, I found little or no time to pursue my own talents in the various media. I retired from teaching in 2008, did some traveling and eventually found time to do something I always wanted to do. I wrote, published and illustrated four children’s books. I didn’t start getting serious about creating my own art until about four or five years ago. COVID definitely was a factor in inspiring me to work almost everyday, for hours at a time. It all begins with how I see things. I look at people and places with the concept of creating a work of art every place I go.”
