Church Holding Ice Cream
Social Today
The annual Ice Cream Social will be held by Kiantone Congregational Church 646 Kiantone Road, today Aug. 13, from 4:30 to 7 p.m.. Hot dogs, ice cream sundaes, homemade cakes, and drinks will be served. A quilt, Triangle Twister made by Sharon Werner will be raffled. There is Grandma’s Attic and a bake sale also held in fellowship hall. Proceeds go towards missions.
Music To Remember
Concert Today
FALCONER – Music to Remember Concert with Buffalo Music Hall of Fame member Robin Grandin will take place today, Aug. 13, from 2-3 p.m. in Davis Park, 101 W. Main St., Falconer, across the street from the library. Those attending will be encouraged to sing along and add to the musical fun with hand-held instruments that will be shared at the concert. This event is made possible in part by support from the United Arts Appeal of Chautauqua County Projects Pool Grants Program. Cassadaga Legion Auxiliary Meeting Today
The next meeting of the Cassadaga American Legion Unit 1280 members is today, Aug. 13 at 6 p.m. This will be the summer dinner get-together. Attendees are asked to bring a dish to share. A short meeting will follow.

Magnuson With She Sings Cafe To Receive SBA Entrepreneur Award
MAYVILLE – On Wednesday, Aug. 14, Rebecca Magnuson and She Sings Cafe Restaurant and Bar will receive the NY State Small Business Administration’s Phoenix Entrepreneur of 2024 Award beginning at 10 a.m. at 95 West Lake Road, Mayville.
Magnuson opened She Sings Cafe on Sept. 28, 2023, and she is committed to staying open year round, offering breakfast, lunch and dinner daily. The piano bar with Magnuson performing most nights has become a favorite for visitors and members of the community.
In February 2024, Magnuson formed She is Safe, Inc. of Chautauqua County whose mission is to assist victims of domestic abuse by giving emergency funding to victims, and building or acquiring a safe house. Fundraising for She is Safe will begin with a free Bluegrass outdoor concert at She Sings Cafe, Restaurant and Bar by the band South 79 on Friday, Aug. 16 from 8-10 p.m. Donations will be accepted.

Program On Jamestown’s Secret War Plane
The Chautauqua Town Historical Society’s August meeting will feature a program on “Jamestown’s Secret War Plane” by Sam Genco and Karen Livesey. The meeting will be Thursday, Aug. 15 at 7 p.m., in the Chautauqua Town Building (former Mayville School building) meeting room, 2 Academy Street, Mayville. All who are interested in local history are invited and are welcome to attend.
