Frewsburg School Board To Meet Thursday
FREWSBURG – The Frewsburg Central School Board of Education will hold its regular meeting Thursday at 6:30 p.m. in the middle-high school multipurpose room. The public is welcome to attend.
Falconer Public Library Book Sale Begins Thursday
FALCONER – The 76th annual book sale at the Falconer Public Library will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday and Friday as well as 9 a.m. to noon Saturday. There will be adult and children’s fiction and non-fiction books as well as DVDs, CDs and puzzles. All proceeds from the sale will go towards the purchase of new materials for the library. Conservancy Annual Meeting Reservations Due Thursday
MAYVILLE – The Chautauqua Watershed Conservancy will hold its 2024 annual meeting at the Chautauqua Suites Hotel & Expo Center in Mayville on Thursday, Aug. 15, from 5 to 8 p.m. Brian Gottfried, a senior engineering technician for the Great Lakes/Atlantic Region of Ducks Unlimited, will be the featured speaker. A welcome reception with refreshments and heavy hors d’oeuvres will start at 5 p.m., followed by the meeting at 5:30 p.m. with an activities report, programs update and financial update. At 6:45 p.m., Gottfried will speak about a joint mitigation project between Ducks Unlimited and the Chautauqua Watershed Conservancy and also talk about the importance of land conservation for water quality. The meeting is open to both Conservancy members and the public. The cost of attendance is $65 per person, which includes refreshments and heavy hors d’oeuvres. A cash bar will also be available. Ashville Free Library Book Sale Begins Thursday
ASHVILLE – The Ashville Free Library will hold its annual used book sale Friday and Saturday. Thursday the library will host its annual Books and Bottles event with wine, appetizers and early shopping; the event has a $5 cover charge for a fill-a-library-cart shopping spree. The sale opens officially Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and concludes with a bag sale from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. There will be more than 6,000 books available for purchase, for 50 cents for softcover and $1 for hardcover. The sale also includes DVDs, CDs, puzzles, games and more, both upstairs and downstairs (fully accessible). Ultimately, the sale will allow the Library to purchase additional reading materials and support library programs. Host Oak Tree Birthday Party
The James Prendergast Library will host a birthday party for its historic oak tree from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday. The party will include a lawn party for children and a discussion of Jamestown’s trees for adults.
