Fluvanna Library Book Sale Starts Today
FLUVANNA – The Fluvanna Free Library will hold its annual book sale today through Sunday. The sale offers a wide selection of books and other materials including children’s easy and junior fiction, adult fiction, Christian fiction, non-fiction, music, movies, and puzzles. On Friday and Saturday, the library will offer a daily hot dog lunch for a small price, including a hot dog, chips, and a beverage. Today, the library will host a bake sale. The hot dog sale is near the book sale tent at the front of the building and the bsale is inside the building. The hours for the sale are Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 3 p.m. The library does not have scheduled open hours throughout the book sale days. The Fluvanna Free Library is located at 3532 Fluvanna Ave., Fluvanna, next to the Fluvanna fire hall.
Sons Of Legion To Meet Saturday In Stockton
STOCKTON – The Chautauqua County Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution will meet at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at the Stockton Hotel. Meal is followed by a meeting. The Sons of the American Revolution is an association for those males who have lineal descent from an American Patriot who participated in one form or another in the American Revolution from 1775 to 1781. All those with a direct interest are invited.
ILS Veterans Club To Host Dinner Sunday
The ILS Veterans Club will host its signature chicken barbecue Sunday from noon until sold out. The club is located next to Arby’s on Fluvanna Avenue. Dinners include a half chicken, applesauce, and a roll plus a choice of roasted potatoes, macaroni salad, or baked beans. The cost for a full dinner is $14; chicken only is $11. Proceeds support service programs sponsored by the Sons of AMVETs and the AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary.
Panama School Board To Meet Monday
PANAMA – The Panama Central School Board of Education will meet at 6 p.m. Monday in the board room. The public is welcome to attend.
Learn-To-Fish Program Registration Due July 17
YOUNGSVILLE – The 22nd annual Learn-to-Fish Program, in memory of Brent McKown (1935-2001), will be held Saturday, Aug. 10, from 8 a.m. to noon at the Brokenstraw Fish and Game Club, Mead Run Road, Youngsville. The McKown family will hand out fishing gear – poles, fishing boxes of lures, hooks, etc. to children ages 2 through 15. The program is open to boys and girls ages 2-15. Adult participation is required for each child. The program is free and pre-registration is required. The program will accept the first 50 to register. The children must be registered by calling Derek McKown or Pam Tidrick at 814-489-3110. To qualify children must be registered by July 17. Donations to the program are needed annually and can be arranged by calling 814-489-3110.
