Public Schools Board To Meet Today
The Jamestown Public Schools Board of Education will hold its annual reorganizational board meeting at 6 p.m. today in the board room of the Administration building, 197 Martin Road, Jamestown. The public is welcome to attend.
Ross Mills Church To Host Jubilee event
FALCONER – The second annual Jubilee in the Mills will be held Friday, July 12, through Sunday, July 14, at the Ross Mills Church pavilion, 3843 E. Ross Mills Road, Falconer. The event begins at 5:30 p.m. July 12 and ends at noon July 14 and includes a weekend of worship, music, campfires and other activities. A full schedule is available on the Ross Mills Church Facebook page. Free overnight camping is optional. Food will be available for purchase throughout the weekend. St. Timothy Church To Host Movie Night
BEMUS POINT – St. Timothy Lutheran Church has a new big-screen TV and is hosting monthly movie nights. The next film to be shown is “Operation Mincemeat.” Hoping to change the course of World War II and save tens of thousands of lives, two intelligence officers plot to break Hitler’s grip on Europe by recruiting the most unlikely of secret agents: a dead man. The film will begin at 6:30 p.m. July 12. Those attending can bring any non-alcoholic drinks they would like. Popcorn is provided. St. Timothy is located at 3748 Route 430, Bemus Point.
Warren Road To Close Today
Warren Road, County Route 53, in Carroll, between Wiltsie Road and Riverside Road, will be closed to all traffic starting today. A detour will be posted. The road will stay closed until work is completed and detour signs are removed later in the week.

Clymer-Corry Road To Close Tuesday

Replacement
CLYMER – Clymer-Corry Road, County Route 15, in Clymer, between West Main Street, Route 474, and Knowlton Road will be closed to all traffic starting Tuesday so the county can replace County Bridge 133. A detour will be posted. This closure shall remain in effect until the replacement bridge is completed and detour signs are removed.
Frewsburg School Board To Meet Thursday
FREWSBURG – The Frewsburg Central Board of Education will hold its regular meeting and reorganizational meeting Thursday at 6:30 p.m. in the middle-high school multipurpose room. The public is welcome to attend.
Quilt Guild To Meet Wednesday
BUSTI – The Chautauqua Region Quilt Guild will meet Wednesday at the Busti Federated Church at the five corners in Busti. The schedule remains the same as last month: 3 to 6 p.m. is community sew time with a board meeting at 5:30 p.m., refreshments at 6 p.m. and a business meeting at 6:30 p.m. The group will host its annual ice cream social, which will include a silent auction. Items for the auction are still being accepted, but need to be to the church no later than 6 p.m. If coming to help with the community sew, come at any time and don’t feel obligated to stay for all three hours.
Sherman School Board Meeting Is Wednesday
SHERMAN – The Sherman Central School Board will meet at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday for its annual organizational meeting, followed by its regular monthly meeting. The meeting will be held in-person in the school’s auditorium. Members of the public are encouraged to attend.
Sewer District Board To Meet July 11
CELORON – The Administrative Board of the South & Center Chautauqua Lake Sewer Districts will meet at noon Thursday in the Water Pollution Control Facility, Celoron. The public is welcome to attend.

In Davis Park
FALCONER – The Falconer Public Library will be sponsoring summer band concerts on Thursdays from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in Davis Park, directly across the street from the library at 101 W. Main St. If there is inclement weather, the concerts will be at the Falconer Fire Department, 115 Davis St. Those attending should bring a lawn chair for seating. Concerts are: July 11 – Miranda Wilcox; July 18 – Pearl City Jazz; July 25 – New Horizons Band; and Aug. 1 – Razz and Friends.

LAKEWOOD – The Chautauqua Mall, 318 E. Fairmount Ave., will host American Red Cross blood drives from 12:30 to 5:30 p.m. July 11 and July 25. All blood types are needed 1o ensure a reliable supply for patients. A blood donor card or driver’s license or two other forms of identification are required at check-in. Individuals who are 17 years of age in most states (16 with parental consent where allowed by state law), weigh at least 110 pounds and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood. High school students and other donors 16 years of age and younger also have to meet certain height and weight requirements.

CASSADAGA – Cassadaga American Legion Post 1280 is hosting a parking lot dance from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday with music by Zen City. Food and beverages will be available for purchase. The public is welcome to attend.
Observatory To Host Speaker July 17\
FREWSBURG – Dr. Alexandra Yep will speak at the Martz-Kohl Observatory, with the discussion also available via Zoom, at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 17. Yep is a poet turned astronomer. After earning her bachelor’s degree in creative writing from Emerson College in Boston, Mass., she jumped into the sciences, earning her masters degree in physics from California State University, Northridge, in 2016 and her Ph.D. in astronomy from Georgia State University in 2021.. Yep now works as a visiting professor at Agnes Scott College in Decatur, Ga., where she teaches physics and astronomy, researches young star clusters, and directs the Bradley Observatory. There will be a question-and-answer period after the discussion as well as tours of the observatory. Dress appropriately for the weather as if the program were outside.
