Lakewood Trustees To Meet Today
The Village of Lakewood Board of Trustees meeting will be held at the village hall today at 6:30 pm.
Bemus Point School Board Meets Today
BEMUS POINT – The Bemus Point Board of Education will conduct its annual reorganizational meeting on Monday in the Cafeteria located at Bemus Point Elementary School, 41 Liberty St., Bemus Point. A public hearing to review the districtwide school safety plan will be held from 5:45 to 6 p.m. followed by the board’s regular meeting. The public is welcome to attend.
Myers Library Slates Summer Reading Programs
FREWSBURG – The Myers Memorial Library has several summer reading programs in July, including its third annual chalk contest from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, July 13. There will be prizes for children, teens and adults. The theme this year is “Into the Woods.” On Wednesday, July 10, at 10:30 a.m., Mary Ryder from SNAP-Ed joins the group to teach children to prepare yummy and healthy snacks. The class is provided for school-age children, no registration necessary. On Monday, July 15, at 11 a.m., the library will host the REPCO Wildlife traveling zoo program at the Carroll Town Park. The program features ten reptiles from around the world, get a chance to see, touch, and get pictures with exciting animals such as lizards, snakes, and turtles. If it is rainy, the program will be moved to the library. On Tuesday, July 23, at 11 a.m., the program will move to the Carroll Town Park to celebrate Smokey the Bear’s 80th Birthday. Meet Smokey the Bear and learn about forest fire safety. Those attending can also take part in the Smokey Bear Reading Challenge running now at the library and win a camping tent with sleeping bag, games, toys, and books. At the library those interested can also sign up for summer reading, pick up a Bingo card and read books to win prizes. The Myers Memorial Library is open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 3 to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays.
Prendergast Library To Host Drumming Workshops
The James Prendergast Library will host all-ages drumming with the Infinity Performing Arts program from 11 a.m. to noon Thursday, July 11, through Aug. 29, on the library’s front lawn. Drums and other percussion instruments will be provided. Those participating are welcome to bring their own drum. No experience is necessary.
Prendergast Library To Host Diamond Painting Event July 15
The James Prendergast Library will host diamond painting from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, July 15. Diamond painting is a new version of Paint by Numbers. Instead of using paint and a brush to fill in the areas, the paper is sticky and artists stick the plastic diamonds to the correct number. Registration is required for the free program for adults.
