BPU Announces Fourth Of

July Schedule

The Jamestown Board of Public Utilities will be closed on Thursday, July 4, in observance of the July 4 holiday.

Garbage and recycling will not be collected on Thursday but will be delayed until the following day on Friday, July 5. Friday’s normal collection will take place on Saturday, July 6. The recyclable of the week of July 1-6 is metal.

Due to the changed collection schedule, the city yard waste site will not be open on Saturday, July 6, to enable employees to pick up garbage and recycling that day. Customers may call 716-661-1640 during non-business hours to report trouble for all BPU Divisions. During regular business hours, they may call BPU Customer Service at 716-661-1660.

Bemus Point Library Hosting Giveaway

BEMUS POINT – The Bemus Point Library is holding a fundraiser giveaway with more than 150 items through July 6. Items available include $100 gift cards to village restaurants and stores; a Craig Cat boat rental; 30 wine and spirit baskets; childrens’ items and more. Tickets can be purchased and placed inside the library through Tuesday and outside the library from July 4-6. Tickets are 25 for $10 or 52 for $15.

Audubon To Host First Sunday Story Time July 7

The Audubon Community Nature Center will host its monthly First Sunday Story Time from 12:30 to 1 p.m. July 7. Doors open at 12:20 p.m. The program is free as is Sunday building admission. Reservations for story time are requested by Saturday, July 6. To reserve a space, call the Nature Center during open hours at 716-569-2345 or go to AudubonCNC.org and click through Programs and Events. Participation is limited to 15. Walk-ins are welcome if there is room.

Ross Grange Holds Meeting

The Ross Grange met at the Falcon’s Nest following a dish to share lunch. Minutes of the May meeting were read and approved. A letter of thanks was received for donation to the After Prom/Senior Vigil committee. A donation was voted to the esports team from Falconer who will be going to the National competition in Florida later this month. The treasurer’s report was given and accepted. Discussion was held regarding a subject for the display booth at the Chautauqua County Fair July 22-28 in Dunkirk. Lecturer Betty Wakefield presented information on guarding the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, the requirements and Standards for all guards. In recognition of the season, a quiz on baseball terms was enjoyed by all. Flag Day was recognized with a reading “I Am the Flag.” Candles of red, white and blue were lit and what they represent on the flag. Those interested in helping with the fair booth met at the home of Opal Sprague on June 25. Details for setup will be discussed at the July meeting.

Randolph School Board To Meet July 10

RANDOLPH – The Randolph Central School District Board of Education will hold a regular meeting on Wednesday, July 10, at 9 a.m. at Cardinal Hills. The public is welcome to attend. Those planning to attend are asked to call Maureen Pitts, district clerk, at 358-7005.
