AARP Smart Driver Class Is June 19
LAKEWOOD – Brookdale Lakewood is hosting an AARP six-hour Smart Driver Class on Wednesday June 19, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Senior Living Center, 220 Southwestern Drive, Lakewood. The course is the first course designed specifically for drivers over age 50, however drivers of all ages will benefit by attending. Participants may be eligible to receive a discount on auto insurance premiums and a reduction of up to four points on their driving record. The cost is $25 for AARP members and $30 for non-members, check or money order only please payable to AARP. Brookdale will also host classes in July and August. City Announces Rescheduled Tax Grievance Date
The city of Jamestown has rescheduled its annual tax grievance day. Originally slated for June 3, the event was canceled due to unforeseen circumstances. The new date for Grievance Day 2024 is now set for June 20. Grievance Day is an opportunity for residents to address property assessments and will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. June 20. The event gives property owners an opportunity to voice concerns, seek clarifications, and address grievances related to property assessments. “We regret any inconvenience caused by the cancellation of the original date and are grateful for the community’s understanding,” stated Mayor Kimberly Ecklund. “We are committed to ensuring that residents have the opportunity to participate in Grievance Day and have their voices heard.” For more information, call the city Assessor’s Office 716-483-7510 or email assessor@jamestownny.gov. Red Cross To Hold Blood Drive At Mall June 20
LAKEWOOD – The American Red Cross will hold a blood drive from 12:30 to 5:30 p.m. June 20 at the Chautauqua Mall, 318 E. Fairmount Ave., Lakewood. To make an appointment or for more information, download the American Red Cross Blood Donor App. visit RedCrossBlood.org. call 1-800-733-2767 or enable the Blood Donor Skill on any Alexa Echo device to make an appointment or for more information. All blood types are needed 1o ensure a reliable supply for patients. A blood donor card or driver’s license or two other forms of identification are required at check-in. Individuals who are 17 years of age in most states (16 with parental consent where allowed by state law), weigh at least 110 pounds and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood. High school students and other donors 16 years of age and younger also have to meet certain height and weight requirements.
Prendergast Library Board To Meet June 20
The James Prendergast Library’s next Board of Trustees meeting will meet at 5:15 p.m. Thursday, June 20, at the library. Board meetings are open to the public.
