The Southwestern Central School Board of Education will meet at 6 p.m. today for a regular meeting as well as the district’s annual budget hearing. The public is welcome to attend.

Fluvanna Free Library To Host May Events

FLUVANNA – The Fluvanna Free Library has released its schedule of events for the month of May. The library is introducing Techy Tuesdays to answer questions and allow members of the community to learn using a hands-on approach. Tuesday, May 14, at 3 p.m., is Getting to Know Libby and various eReaders and devices. Tuesday, May 28, at 3 p.m., is Getting to Know the Computer with basic computer instruction. Reservations are helpful since computers are limited. Saturday, May 18, at 10:30 a.m. is Super Science Saturday for children ages 7-12 and their adults. This month learn about Gardening for Wildlife. Reservations are required by May 16. Saturday, May 25, at 11 a.m. is the Library’s annual Mother and Daughter Tea. The event will feature tea, sandwiches, dessert and a spring time craft. Reservations are required by May 23. Needles and Hooks (the fiber arts group) meets on the first and third Thursday of the month at 4 p.m. The Coloring Club meets every Friday at 1 p.m. except the final Friday of the month when the group meets at noon. Book club meets the last Friday of the month at 2 p.m. The May Book is The Chilbury Ladies Choir by Jennifer Ryan. All programs are free and open to the public. The CLRAACA will have its monthly general meeting on Wednesday at the War Vets Recreation Club in Fluvanna. The meeting starts at 7 p.m. Everyone with an interest in antique automobiles is welcome to attend.
