Outdoor Club

To Hike Sunday

Members of the Allegheny Outdoor Club will hike a portion of the North Country Trail on Sunday. The group will start at the Cherry Run Trail head (off of Route 948 near Barnes) heading east to the Rock City campsite, which is a total of 5 miles out and back. The hike is a somewhat challenging trail with rolling terrain. Meet at Musante Street at 1:30 p.m. or the Cherry Run Trail head at 2 p.m. There is parking available at the trailhead.

Frewsburg School Board

To Meet April 9

FREWSBURG – The Frewsburg Central School Board of Education will hold a special meeting on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. in the middle-high school multi-purpose room. The purpose of this meeting is to hold an anticipated executive session to discuss matters relating to the employment histories of a particular person or persons and matters related to the hiring of a new superintendent of schools.

Quilt Guild To Meet April 10

BUSTI – The Chautauqua Region Quilt Guild will be holding its monthly meeting Wednesday, April 10, at 6:30 p.m. at the Busti Federated Church. For this month’s program, all members are asked to bring 2 ½-inch fabric strips. Those participating in the Row by Row exchange are reminded to bring a container with their row to exchange at the meeting. The paint chip challenge, secret sister and block lotto are in the works also. Paint chip and block lotto projects are due at the May meeting. The guild now has a Facebook page thanks to Lisa Corey. This month’s community sew will be this Thursday, April 4, from 9 a.m. to noon at the church, which is at the five corners in Busti.

Regional Quilt Of Valor Group Meets April 11

LAKEWOOD – The Chautauqua Region Quilts of Valor group will be meeting Thursday, April 11, at 10 a.m. at Quilters’ Haven in Lakewood. Cindy Conner, group coordinator, will be sharing more information about Quilts of Valor at the meeting. The group has been invited to attend the presentation of quilts to selected local veterans by the Buffalo group at Christ First United Methodist Church in Jamestown on Monday, April 15, at 10 a.m. Quilters’ Haven is located in the Jamestown Mattress Plaza on West Fairmount Avenue, Lakewood.

Citizens To

Meet April 12

BEMUS POINT – The Ellery Senior Citizens will meet at noon April 12 at St. Timothy’s Church, Bemus Point. A catered lunch will be served with members to be contacted for reservations. The group met recently with Marty Hunt saying the opening prayer. Cindy Kircher opened the meeting by leading the salute. Jan Stowell read the poem “The Three Kings” by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. Rita Garretson, Cherrie Clark, Alice Nishnick and Opal Sprague were the $5 name tag winners. Birthdays for the month of November include Bob Garretson, Marty Hunt, Opal Sprague, Alice Nishnick and Betty Lou Cheney. December birthdays include Cherrie Clark, Kay Crossley and Elaine Crossley. The group will look for new officers at the April meeting as some of the current officers will be discontinuing their service. The kitchen committee included Cindy Rircher, Becky Sheesley, Joan Swanson and Mary Carpenter.
