Lakewood UMC To Host Holy Humor Sunday On April 7

LAKEWOOD – The Lakewood United Methodist Church, Shadyside Drive, Lakewood, will observe Holy Humor Sunday on April 7 during the church’s 9:45 a.m. service. Holy Humor Sunday is encouraged by The Fellowship of Merry Christians to be observed the Sunday following Easter. It is a time to celebrate the joy following Jesus and to reflect on the humor of the resurrection. The world around Jesus expected him to die and remain dead. The humor is that Jesus Christ rose and was alive on Easter Day. Congregations observing Holy Humor Sunday find creative ways to celebrate the Joy of being Christian. Some tell religious jokes and stories throughout the morning worship. In some congregations, members are encouraged to dress in outrageous, silly attire. One church choir wore bathrobes instead of their choir robes.
