Allegheny Outdoor Club To Hike Sunday

On Sunday, members of the Allegheny Outdoor Club will hike at the radio tower, game lands 29 off Route 337. Meet at 1:30 p.m. at Musante Street, Warren, or 2 p.m. at the parking lot at the radio tower. This will be an out and back hike. Bemus Point Board Of Education Meets

BEMUS POINT – The Bemus Point School Board will conduct its next regular meeting on Monday at Maple Grove Jr/Sr High School, Dutch Hollow Road, Bemus Point. An executive session is possible at 5:30 p.m. followed by the board’s regular meeting at 6 p.m. The public is welcome to attend.

Chautauqua Region Quilt Guild To Meet

BUSTI – The Chautauqua Region Quilt Guild will meet at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 13, at the Busti Federated Church at the 5 corners in Busti. The main topic of business is the election of officers. Nominees are still needed for president, vice-president and secretary. The group will begin its Row by Row block exchange tonight. Jan Shoup will present a program on a new challenge: a paint chip challenge. The group will also get an update on the Quilts of Valor program. Membership dues payment is due at the meeting. Dues continue to be $20 for the year. This month only the Community Sew will be the second Thursday of the month, March 14, from 9 a.m. to noon.

United Senior Council To Meet Thursday

The United Senior Council of Chautauqua County will meet on Thursday, March 14, at 10 a.m. at the Chautauqua Adult Day Care Center (Bercik-Lucks Center) located at the corner of East Fifth and Church streets, Jamestown. The building used to be The First Baptist Church. The parking is off Church Street. The council’s April 11 meeting will be held at 10 a.m. at the Panama United Methodist Church. Beekeepers To

Gather Thursday

FLUVANNA – The Chautauqua County Beekeepers Association will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 14, at the Fluvanna Community Church, 3363 Fluvanna Ave. There will be an informal forensic examination of a bee hive whose colony unexpectedly died out. A hands-on analysis of the physical evidence will focus on the usual suspects of disease, starvation and parasitic mites. The meeting will also feature timely roundtable discussions of seasonal apiary management duties such as assessing winter stores, feeding during the critical March through April period, and purchasing bees. Tabulation of the ballots for the election of 2024-25 officers will also be conducted, the results announced and the successful candidates duly installed. The meeting is open to the public free of charge. Beginners are especially welcome. Previous experience in beekeeping, while helpful, is not necessary. In the event of traveler’s advisories, this meeting will be postponed. If in doubt, consult the association’s Facebook page for confirmation.
