MAYVILLE – The Mayville Senior Citizens will meet Thursday at noon at the Mayville VFW. Bring a dish to pass. The speaker will be Randy Wiltsie, who will be speaking on his long time working with the Gideons International organization. This organization was established in 1899.

Lakewood Library To Host STEAM Event Saturday
LAKEWOOD – The Lakewood Memorial Library will host a STEAM Saturday event at 11:30 a.m. Saturday. Participants will delve into the world of bird identification and the legacy of Jamestown’s Roger Tory Peterson, and put their newfound knowledge to the test during an engaging game of “Jeop-Birdy.” The session is recommended for those ages 8 and over.
Local Horse Council Chapter To Meet Sunday
IRVING – The Cattaraugus/Chautauqua Chapter of the New York State Horse Council will have its quarterly meeting Sunday at 11 a.m. at Tom’s Restaurant, Routes 5 and 20, 935 Main Road, Irving. The chapter is part of the state Horse Council, whose main interest is promoting equine activities in New York. The chapter has chosen to plan, construct and maintain trails suitable for horses on DEC state forests in Cattaraugus County. Participants can order food that can be eaten after the meeting. Is Subject Of Tuesday’s Turner Winter Series
The next program on the 2024 Turner Winter Series will feature Marcy O’Brien, noted journalist and award winning author. The Warren resident will be interviewed by Greg Peterson and will discuss her recent book “Rounding Third” which is a compilation of her many essays that have appeared in The Post-Journal, Warren Times-Observer and Dunkirk Observer. She recently won the Erma Bombeck Writing Competition based on the articles that appear therein. She took first prize in the Global Human-Interest category with her article “Heart and Sole.” The interview will start at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Carl Cappa Theater at the Robert H. Jackson Center.
Falconer Village Board To Meet Monday
FALCONER – The Falconer Village Board will hold a work session at 6 p.m. Monday, before its regular meeting, in the Fire Exempts Hall, 3 Coleson Drive, Falconer. There will be a presentation by the Chautauqua Watershed Conservancy on the Chadakoin River and a presentation by the Fire Advisory Board at the work session.
