First Lutheran Church to Host Lenten Service Wednesday

The Rev. Timothy Hoyer, Pastor of Tree of Life Lutheran Church in Jamestown, and the Falconer Bethlehem Lutheran Church, will be the guest speaker at the midweek noon-time Lenten Service at the First Lutheran Church on Wednesday. The Lenten services are sponsored by the Southwestern Conference Lutherans and will be held in the Memorial Chapel which is handicap accessible. The 12 p.m. service will be followed by a soup, salad, and homemade pie luncheon in the church parlors for a nominal fee. The luncheon is sponsored by the First Lutheran Altar Society. The public is welcome to attend.

ILS Veterans Club To Host Open House Feb. 24

The ILS Veterans Club welcomes the public to an open house on Saturday, Feb. 24, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the post, 364 Fluvanna Ave., next to Arby’s. There will be karaoke. In addition to American Legion veterans’ memberships, there are VFW memberships and AMVETS Veterans, Sons and Auxiliary available to join. The club also offers social memberships. Members of each organization will be present to discuss the benefits of joining a veteran’s organization if eligible.

Hazeltine Public Library Board To Meet Feb. 27

BUSTI — The Hazeltine Public Library board meeting will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 27, at 5 p.m. The meeting will be held at the library, 891 Busti-Sugar Grove Road. The general public is welcome to attend. More information is available by calling the library at 716-487-1281.

IDA Board To Gather Feb. 27

The Chautauqua County Industrial Development Agency board will meet at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 27, in the second floor board room at the BWB Building, 201 W. Third St., Jamestown. The meeting will also be live-streamed on YouTube and Zoom.

Brocton-Portland Seniors Group Meets

BROCTON — Members of Brocton-Portland Seniors met at their new location at Tri-Church, 41 E. Main St., Brocton on Jan. 30 with 41 members present. A tureen lunch was enjoyed by all. President Margaret Jagoda opened the meeting with Anita Calcatera’s prayer and George Travis’ Pledge of Allegiance by members. Twelve January birthdays were announced. Information regarding a trip to see “Daniel” in Lancaster, Pa., in October was given. See Robin Carr for details. The Feb. 27 meeting will include a tureen soup and sandwich lunch, with own table service and bowl. Bingo will be played for donated prizes by members.
