Bemus Point School Board Meets Monday

BEMUS POINT — The Bemus Point Central School Board will meet Monday in the Maple Grove Middle-High School cafeteria on Dutch Hollow Road, Bemus Point. An executive session will be held at 5:30 p.m. with the regular meeting following at 6 p.m. The public is welcome to attend.

Panama School Board To Meet Monday

PANAMA – The Panama Central School Board of Education will meet at 6 p.m. Monday in the board room. The public is welcome to attend.

Ash Wednesday Service Set

For Wednesday

The First Presbyterian Church, 509 Prendergast Ave, Jamestown, will hold its Ash Wednesday service with the imposition of ashes on Wednesday. The midday service will start at 11:40 a.m. in the Bellinger Chapel. David Horne, minister of music, will perform ‘Bach’s Lunch’ followed by worship led by the Rev. Tara Lamont Eastman at noon. After the worship, there will be a Lenten soup luncheon in the Merwin Fellowship Hall. Those who are on foot or driving by can also receive ‘Ashes to Go’ from 7 to 9 a.m. and 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Additional lenten services will be held at noon on the next six Wednesdays during Lent in the Bellinger Chapel. This year’s Lenten focus is on Short Stories of Everyday Saints. Throughout Lent, members and friends of the First Presbyterian Church will share short five-minute stories about everyday saints. A Lenten Soup Luncheon will follow in Merwin Fellowship Hall after worship. These Lenten Services will be held on Wednesdays, Feb. 21, Feb. 28, March 6, March 13, March 20, and March 27.

Historical Society To Host Guest Speaker

BEMUS POINT — The Bemus Point Historical Society Guest Speaker Series continues on Wednesday Feb. 14, at 7 p.m. as Richard Roll of Memorial Photo helps the group be better historical archivists as he shares best practices in the care and preservation of photographs, documents and artifacts. The free event is open to the public and will be held at the Bemus Point Village Hall on Alburtus Avenue. The adjacent Bemus Point Historical Society Museum will be open for touring starting at 6 p.m.

Prendergast Library Board To Meet Feb. 15

The James Prendergast Library’s next Board of Trustees meeting will be held at the library on Thursday, Feb. 15, at 5:15 p.m. Board meetings are open to the public.

Chautauqua Rails’ Author Plans

Presentations

The author of “Good Soles: Chautauqua Rails to Trails Namesakes and Trailblazers,” Wendy Lewellen, will be holding two book presentations this week.

The first will be today at 5 p.m. at the Patterson Library in Westfield. Books will be available for purchase after the 45-minute presentation and discussion. On Saturday, she is privileged to present at the Bemus Point Library at 11 a.m. The book is available for purchase any day the library is open.
