Harmony Senior Citizens Meet Thursday

PANAMA — The Harmony Senior Citizens will meet at noon Thursday, Feb. 1, at Panama Methodist Church for a tureen dinner. Hosts for the lunch will be Cindy McIntyre, Carol Parnell, Pat Walters and Mary Lou Garfield. In addition to a dish to pass and their own table service, members are asked to bring a Valentine card to be exchanged.

Hospital Auxiliary Launches

Membership Drive

WESTFIELD — The WMH Auxiliary is launching its 2024 membership drive. The auxiliary works to provide Westfield Memorial Hospital with funding to support equipment and services. Those who have received a new membership card can mail it back. Those who want to become a new member can call Tina Winslow, membership chairperson, at 716-581-3361, or any auxiliary board member. The auxiliary’s 2023 projects included: Christmas decorations throughout the hospital, blood pressure screenings and donations for hospital landscaping. Financing for the above projects was made possible by community support of the following projects: annual membership drive, Shred-It event, quilt giveaway, Lottery Tree giveaway and sales of ornaments and magnets.

Studies Program To Participate In Culture Day

Jamestown Community College’s Global Studies Program will participate in the Culture Day event to be held at Jamestown Community College on Saturday. Culture Day begins with coffee, imported lingonberry drink and a sweet goodie at 9:30 a.m. in the Hamilton Collegiate Center. Nigerian students from JCC will have a display and poetry event during the workshops held at 10 and 11 a.m. The Global Studies degree at Jamestown Community College prepares one to transfer to a bachelor’s program in global, international, or cultural studies. The Global Studies program critically evaluates global cultures, institutions, and issues. Additional workshops include the following: Cooking a Cloudberry Layer Cake, Book Study of Vilhelm Moberg’s “When I Was A Child,” Valentine’s Day Craft, Children’s Folk Dancing, Student and Adult Social and Folk Dancing, Norwegian painting, Huck Weaving, Chip Carving, Genealogy Research, Knitting and a Swedish School for Children. Culture Day is held the first Saturday of each month through May. The program is free and open to the public with no registration required. Attend at any time. For more information call 716-665-0883

Frewsburg School Board To Hold Special Meeting Today

FREWSBURG — The Frewsburg Central School Board of Education will hold a special meeting at 6 p.m. Today in the middle-high school multi-purpose room. The purpose of the meeting is to hold an anticipated executive session to discuss matters related to the hiring of a new superintendent of schools.
