Hold Special

Meeting Today

PANAMA – The Panama Central School Board of Education will hold a special meeting at 6 p.m. tonight in the board room. It is anticipated that a motion to adjourn to executive session to discuss collective bargaining negotiations will be made immediately after the opening of the public portion of the meeting. No action will be taken at this meeting.

Frewsburg School Board To Hold Special Meeting

FREWSBURG — The Frewsburg Central School Board of Education will hold a special meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the middle-high school multi-purpose room. The purpose of the meeting is to hold an anticipated executive session to discuss matters related to the hiring of a new superintendent of schools.

Quilt Guild To Start New Year Thursday

The Chautauqua Region Quilt Guild is starting their new year in February with a community sew from 9 a.m. to noon Thursday, Feb. 1. Participants can come anytime within those three hours to assist with a variety of projects. The first meeting of the year will be an informal sit and sew on Wednesday, Feb. 14, at the guild’s regular meeting time of 6:30 p.m. There will be no business meeting this month. Volunteers are still needed for guild positions and committees. The community sew and guild meeting will be held at Busti Federated Church at the five corners in Busti. New members and guests are welcome.

Library To Host Valentine’s Day Event Feb. 3

ELLINGTON – Just in time for Valentine’s Day the Ellington Farman Library will host Valentine’s Day-themed Take Your Child To The Library Day events. From 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 3, the library will be open for children to explore as well as special events in the community room. There will be a “Make a Snowman Thermometer” craft activity, a Pie in a Cup Recipe for parents and children to do together and a puppet theater that will make its debut. The library’s Makerspace will be open with puzzles, games, Legos and other building blocks. The library’s Children’s Room will also be open with games, activities and a great big yellow chair for reading. There are toddler board books for the very young, easy picture books and early literacy chapter books all located in the children’s room. There are also patron computers playing educational games such as ABC Mouse and Tumble EBooks for Kids. Located at 760 Thornton Road in Ellington, the Ellington Farman Library is open Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Call the library at 716-287-2945 for information. No registration needed but activity supplies are limited.
