JPD Accepting Applications For Citizen Police Academy

The Jamestown Police Department is accepting applications for its 2024 Citizen Police Academy. The academy is scheduled to begin Wednesday, Feb. 21, and will run for about 13 consecutive weeks. Classes will be held from 6-9 p.m. on Wednesdays in the police training room in City Hall. The Citizen Police Academy is open to adults with preference given to those who reside or work within the city of Jamestown. Topics to be covered include patrol investigations, criminal investigations, firearms, crime scene processing, domestic violence, and narcotics. Participants will be given the opportunity to ride along on patrol with an officer prior to the completion of the academy. Youth Group

Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 130 McDaniel Ave., Jamestown, is welcoming youth to its youth group that meets from 5-8 p.m. on the first, third and fourth Sunday of each month. Meetings include food, music and games, and transportation is available, the church said. “The youth group provides opportunities for recreational activities, which create a safe environment that allows members to develop meaningful relationships, experience group dynamics and have fun,” the church said. FALCONER — The Falconer Public Library’s next board meeting will be at 8 a.m. Thursday in the library, 101 W. Main St., Falconer. The public is welcome to attend.

Mayville Senior Citizens To

Meet Jan. 18

MAYVILLE — Weather permitting, the Mayville Senior Citizens will meet at noon at the VFW in Mayville on Jan. 18. The speaker will be Rebecca Magnuson, owner of the She Sings Cafe in Mayville. Attendees are asked to bring a dish to pass along with table service or $5.

MAYVILLE – The North Chautauqua Lake Sewer District board will meet at 4:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 22, in the Carlson Center in Mayville. The meeting is open to the public.

Memorial Library Accepting Tiny Art Show

FREWSBURG – The Myers Memorial Library in Frewsburg is looking for art for its Tiny Art Show in February. All art must be turned into the library by Jan. 31. Artwork should be smaller than 6″x6″. There are small 4″x4″ canvases available at the library for $1. The artwork can be any medium and the theme this year is “Lovable Pets.” The Tiny Art Show will run from Feb. 1 through Feb. 29 with an opening reception at the library on Saturday, Feb. 3, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
