SINCLAIRVILLE — The Cassadaga Valley Central School Board will meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 10, in the middle-high school multi-purpose room. A budget workshop will be held prior to the meeting beginning at 5 p.m.

Books & Brews Is Jan. 10 At Brazil

Chapter To

Meet Jan. 11

The Theta Beta Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi met at the home of Rose Van Volkenburg on December 14 in celebration of the Christmas holiday. President Tracie Smith conducted the business meeting, which included discussion on recent donations to CASA in Mayville and the Minerva Free Library in Sherman. Mrs. Van Volkenburg presented her program with readings from “Chicken Soup for the Soul, Christmas Cheer.” Following the meeting, members enjoyed a gift exchange and an array of refreshments furnished by all members. Guest for the evening was Joan Wahl, recent publisher and former sorority sister. The group will meet Jan 11 at the home of Tracie Smith.

Quilts Of Valor Group To Meet Jan. 11

LAKEWOOD — The Chautauqua Region Quilts of Valor group will hold an informational meeting on Thursday, Jan. 11, at 11 a.m. at Quilters’ Haven in Lakewood. One topic of discussion will be when to meet. There will also be information shared at this meeting regarding organizational requirements. Community members are encouraged to attend to learn more about this Quilt of Valor unit. For more information, call Quilters’ Haven at 716-760-0342. Quilters’ Haven is the group’s sponsoring shop and Cindy Conner is the unit’s coordinator. Quilters’ Haven is at 135 E. Fairmount Ave. in the Jamestown Mattress plaza in Lakewood. The Quilts of Valor Foundation’s mission is to cover service members and veterans touched by war with comforting and healing Quilts of Valor. The foundation has awarded 33,636 quilts nationally this year with 7,130 awarded just in November.

Canteen To Gather Jan. 13

Fenton Canteen will meet on Saturday, Jan. 13, at the Fenton Mansion and Museum from 10 a.m. to noon. Canteen meets on the second Saturday morning of each month at 67 Washington St. New veterans are always welcome to join for coffee, cookies, and camaraderie. The building is handicap accessible and service dog friendly.
