City Zoning Board Meeting Canceled

The city of Jamestown Zoning Board of Appeals meeting originally scheduled for January has been canceled due to a lack of agenda items.

Quilt Guild Reports On

2023 Projects

LeeAnn Sunderlin, Chautauqua Region Quilt Guild chairperson of community sew, shared with members the tallies of items given during 2023. Donations include: 260 pillowcases to the Winifred Crawford Dibert Boys and Girls Club; 12 quilts to refugee families in the Jamestown area; four quilts provided to benefits; 18 breast cancer pillows provided to the Cancer Care Center at UPMC Chautauqua; 15 quilts to the Cancer Care Center at UPMC Chautauqua; seven quilts to Habitat for Humanity; 13 quilts to maternity at UPMC Chautauqua, six quilts donated to Heritage for seniors in assisted living at Christmas; and 15 quilts delivered to UCan Ministries with five more in the process of being finished. In total, the guild’s Community Sew group gave 73 quilts, 18 breast pillows and 260 pillowcases. The Community Sew group meets the first Thursday of each month in February through November at the Busti Federated Church in Busti from 9 a.m. to noon. Cynthia Oakes will be joining Sunderlin as co-chair of Community Sew.

St. Luke’s

Thrift Shop

Open Saturday

St. Luke’s Thrift Shop, 409 Pine St., Jamestown, will be open Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The shop is overstocked with merchandise in all departments. Ladies pants are $1; dresses 50% off; and all remaining ladies holiday clothing is $1. Infant clothing is all $1 or less, and the department is overstocked with children’s clothing. Many men’s shirts are $1.

Bemus Point School Board Meets Monday

BEMUS POINT — The Bemus Point School Board will meet Monday, Jan. 8, in the Maple Grove Middle-High School cafeteria, 3980 Dutch Hollow Road, Bemus Point. A public hearing will be held at 5:45 p.m. to discuss volunteer firefighter and ambulance worker exemption. The regular meeting will be held at 6 p.m. The public is welcome to attend.

Ross Grange Meets On

Monday

Ross Grange will meet Monday, Jan. 8, at the Falcon’s Nest Banquet Hall. A dish to share lunch will be served at 12:30 p.m., followed by the program. Steve and Christine Hatfield will share their recent trip to National Parks. The business meeting will follow the lunch.

Ripley School Board Gathers Jan. 10

RIPLEY — The Ripley Central School Board will meet at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 10, in the superintendent’s office at Ripley Central School. The public is welcome to attend.
