Final Services Set For Magnolia United Methodist Church

MAYVILLE — A Decommissioning Service will be held at Magnolia United Methodist Church, 3969 Route 394, Mayville, north of Stow, during the 11 a.m. worship service on Sunday, Dec. 31. A New Year’s open house will be held from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. This will be a time for snacks, reviewing the past, and looking to the future. A Watch Night Service will be held at 11 p.m. with holy communion and candlelight. Pastor John Bowen will be preaching the last sermon in the church. All in the community are welcome to attend and recall what Magnolia Church has meant in their lives and to the community.

Sheriff’s Office Warns Of Phone Scams

LITTLE VALLEY — The Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office issued a warning to residents about scam artists reportedly calling and stating that they are from Publisher’s Clearinghouse. “They are notifying the individual that they have won and are requesting processing fees,” the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office said Wednesday in a news release. During the conversation, they are arranging electronic payment or a meeting place to receive the payment in person. Do not give out any personal information over the phone. If such a call is received, residents are encouraged to call their local police agency.”

Chautauqua Chamber Singers To Perform Jan. 6 And 7

The Chautauqua Chamber Singers will perform at 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 6, at First Lutheran Church, 109 W. Third Ave., Warren, and at 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 7, at First Presbyterian Church, 509 Prendergast Ave., Jamestown. Renowned for their rich harmonies and exceptional vocal prowess, the Chautauqua Chamber Singers invite music enthusiasts and community members alike to join them for an unforgettable evening of musical brilliance. January 7 is Audubon First Sunday Story Time

The Audubon Community Nature Center, 1600 Riverside Road, Jamestown, will hold its First Sunday Story Time from 12:30-1 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 7. Doors open to the public at 1 p.m. The program is free as is Sunday admission. Participation is limited to 15. Reservations for Story Time are requested by Saturday, Jan. 6. To reserve space, call the Nature Center during open hours at 716-569-2345 or go to AudubonCNC.org and click through Programs and Events. Walk-ins are welcome if there is room. The three-story Nature Center building houses interactive displays, a collection of live animals including the Hellbender exhibit, and the Blue Heron Gift Shop. Visitors are welcome Mondays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Sundays from 1-4:30 p.m. Nature Center members and SNAP/EBT cardholders have free building admission daily. Building admission is also free every Sunday for non-Nature Center members.
