Monthly JLDC Meeting Is Canceled

The monthly meeting of the Jamestown Local Development Corporation scheduled for Wednesday has been canceled. The next meeting will be on Wednesday, Jan. 17.

Special Blue Christmas Service Scheduled For Thursday

RANDOLPH – A special Blue Christmas service is being held at East Randolph Methodist Church for those who may not find the holidays so joyful.

It will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday. All are welcome to attend the service, which will be led by Pastor Tim Middleton.

Breakfast Club To Meet On Thursday

The New York State Department of Transportation Breakfast Club will meet at 10 a.m. Thursday at Demetri’s in Dunkirk. All retirees are welcome to attend.

Pickup Ends

In Fredonia

The village of Fredonia Department of Public works has completed its loose leaf pickup.

Crews will continue to pick up bagged leaves until Dec. 31. Brush pickup will resume in the spring.

Cassadaga American Legion Auxiliary Puts Wrap On The Year

CASSADAGA – The Cassadaga American Legion Auxiliary Unit 1280 held their regular monthly meeting Dec. 12 with 13 senior members present.

Unit 1280 membership is currently 79.5% paid for the year; dues are $30 and can be paid by mail at 228 Maple Ave., Cassadaga, NY 14718, or they can be paid at the post.

Unit member Lauren Sharp delivered our collection box of items and monetary donations to the Blue Star Mothers for their holiday packages being sent to the Troops stationed overseas; thank you to everyone that contributed to this worthy cause!

The Veterans Day luncheon was appreciated by the Legionnaire’s; however, our Unit wants to do something more next year to show our appreciation to our veterans.

The “Deck the Halls gathering on Nov. 26 resulted in our Post looking festive for the holidays.

The Post has a Christmas Eve gathering planned, a New Year’s Eve “ball drop” party, and is working with the Cassadaga village for a dance on Saturday, Feb. 3 during the village Winterfest in February.

Pat Hayward passed out papers with items that are needed for both men and women veterans at the Buffalo VA and Willow Creek.

The “Chris-Moose” sleigh raffle was won by Martin Schroeder.

Members present voted to give baskets for a raffle to the Coast Guard Petty Officer Assn gathering to be held in Hamburg, Jan. 19.

The next Unit meeting will be Tuesday, Jan. 9 at 6:30 p.m. at the Legion Post. All members are encouraged to attend.
