LAKEWOOD — Official Halloween hours in the village of Lakewood have been set for 5:30-7:30 p.m. today.

Mayville Senior Citizens To Hold Harvest Dinner

Mayville — The Mayville Senior Citizens will hold a harvest dinner at noon Saturday at the Mayville VFW. Entertainment will be Steven Eng and Mark Davis. New officers will be sworn in at the meeting.

Veteran Markers

On Saturday, Nov. 4, the Friends of Lake View Cemetery and the Lake View Cemetery Association will dedicate the setting of the final 12 veteran markers at Soldier’s Circle. In the late fall of 2021, local resident George Wiedenhofer started a fundraiser to collect money to purchase and place the final dozen markers on Soldier’s Circle. With the aid and support of the community, veteran organizations, and the Friends of Lake View Cemetery, the funds were raised and the markers placed. Thanks to the support, all veterans buried on Soldier’s Circle will now have their own marker. More than $10,000 was raised in all, and the remaining balance will be used to provide memorials for the veterans of the Persian Gulf and Afghanistan wars.

Saturday’s event begins at 10:30 a.m.

Falconer Library To Host Camera Club Exhibit

FALCONER – The Chautauqua County Camera Club will be displaying its photographs at the Falconer Public Library during November. There will be an open house to meet the photographers on Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon. The library is located at 101 W. Main St., Falconer. For more information call the library at 716-665-3504.

JACO Concert Set For Nov. 4

On Saturday, Nov. 4, the Jamestown Area Community Orchestra will perform its Fall 2023 concert under the direction of John Cross. The orchestra has been providing the community with quality orchestral music for over a quarter-century, relying on the volunteer talents of area musicians, retired music teachers and musicians, and advanced high school and college musicians. Selections for the concert include Romeo and Juliet by Tchaikovsky, Jesus Christ Superstar by Mancini, Carmen by Bizet, The Empire Strikes Back by John Williams, Poem for Orchestra by Tatgenhorst, and Saturday Night Waltz from Rodeo by Copland. The concert is at 4 p.m. at First Covenant Church in Jamestown. A free-will offering will be accepted.

Club To Host Indoor Yard Sale, Basket Raffle

GOWANDA – On Saturday, Nov. 4, the Slovenian Club of Gowanda will hold an indoor yard sale and basket raffle from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the club located at 36 Palmer St. A variety will be available along with refreshments and lunch. Proceeds from the event will benefit the club’s community service projects.
