Ripley School Board Gathers October 18

RIPLEY — The Ripley Central School Board will meet at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 18, in the superintendent’s office, room 119, at Ripley Central School.

Events Planned At Martz-Kohl Observatory

FREWSBURG — On Wednesday, Oct. 18, at 7:30 p.m., Mike Stafford, physicist and retired Penn State professor, will present “The Origin and Evolution of Galaxies” at the Martz-Kohl Observatory. Stafford considers events starting “shortly” after the Big Bang and provides the current theory of where these structures came from and how they have changed over time. On Saturday, Oct. 21, starting at 7 p.m., the observatory will participate in the “International Observe the Moon Night.” Observatory tours will be offered and, if the weather cooperates, viewing opportunities through various telescopes will take place. There will be a couple of door prizes for kids or the young at heart.

Chautauqua County Board Of Health To Meet On October 19

MAYVILLE — The Chautauqua County Board of Health will hold its quarterly meeting on Thursday, Oct. 19, at 6 p.m. in the Hall R. Clothier Building, fourth floor conference room, 7 N. Erie St. in Mayville. Comments received from the public will be accepted as communications, and not read during privilege of the floor. FALCONER — Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Falconer will host a take-out chicken and biscuit dinner on Thursday Oct. 19, from 4:30 to 6 p.m. The price will be $10 for adults and $5 for children under 6.
