Basket Giveaway, Golf Tourney Set For This Weekend
Supporters of Camp Gross will host a basket giveaway and golf tournament this weekend. On Friday from 3 to 8 p.m. the basket giveaway will be held at Cassadaga Country Club while the annual Dr. John and Alona Forbes Memorial Golf Tournament will be held from 8 a.m. to noon at the country club.
Historical Society To Gather Monday
CLYMER — The Clymer Area Historical Society will meet Monday at 7 p.m. at the Haverkamp Huis. Former CIA agent Mike Ganske will discuss the true story of the movie, “The Falcon and the Snowman.” All are welcome to attend.
Panama Central School Board To Meet
PANAMA –The Panama Central School Board of Education will meet at 6 p.m. Monday in the school auditorium. The public is welcome to attend.
Author Events Continue At Hazeltine Library
BUSTI — Author events at the Hazeltine Public Library continue on Monday with author Deb Madar. She will talk about her latest novel “A Deeper Dive,” the story of a retired librarian set in the village of Westfield with references to local places. The program begins at 6:30 p.m. in the Community Building at the Hazeltine Public Library, 891 Busti Sugar Grove Road. The series is part of the weekly author presentations and is free and open to everyone, no reservations needed. The series continues Sept. 25 with Adrienne Ploss. Watershed Conservancy To Hold Demonstration
WESTFIELD — At 10 a.m. Tuesday, the Chautauqua Watershed Conservancy will be offering an invasive plant removal demonstration at its McCray-Peckinpaugh preserve in Westfield. Some of the plants that will be targeted include Japanese knotweed, Asian honeysuckle, multiflora rose, privet and Japanese barberry. Invasive plants can cause damage to both the surrounding ecosystem and to property. They can also be hard to get rid of, and different plants can sometimes call for different methods of removal to be effective. Mike Catanese from ArborWild Environmental and Twan Leenders, Chautauqua Watershed Conservancy director of conservation, will be on hand to show participants how to properly treat and remove these invasive plants and also answer questions about them or other invasives. Participants should meet at the state DEC fisherman’s parking lot at 8328 West Lake Road in Westfield. A rain date is set for Thursday at 10 a.m.
Town Of Poland To Meet

KENNEDY — The town of Poland will hold a meeting for highway contract negotiations at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 25, at the Poland Town Hall.
