ILS Veterans Club To Host Chicken BBQ

The ILS Veterans Club will hold a chicken barbecue beginning at noon Sunday at the club next to Arby’s on Fluvanna Avenue. Dinners include a half-chicken, applesauce, roll, and a choice of roasted potatoes, macaroni salad or baked beans. The cost for a full dinner is $14 and $10 for just chicken. Proceeds support service programs sponsored by the Sons of AMVETs and the AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary.

The town of Ellicott Clerk’s Office will be closed on Monday, Sept. 18, so the clerks can attend training in Buffalo.

Golden Agers To Gather On September 19

LAKEWOOD — The Lakewood-Busti Golden Agers will meet at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 19, at the Lakewood American Legion building. A representative of the M&T Bank will present a program on scams. Reservations and payments for the group’s Hobo Lunch on Tuesday, Oct. 17, will be taken at this month’s meeting. Seniors with questions are asked to call Cecile Wilson at 716-483-0101.

Bemus Point Library Board To Meet Wednesday

BEMUS POINT — The Bemus Point Public Library Board of Directors will meet at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 20, at the library, 13 Main St., Bemus Point. The public is welcome to attend.

Quilt Guild To Host Show At Apple Festival

BUSTI — The Chautauqua Region Quilt Guild will hold its first quilt show in conjunction with the Busti Apple Festival. All of the quilts and quilted items have been made by guild members and will be displayed in the Busti Federated Church at the five corners in Busti across from the fire hall on Saturday, Sept. 23, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The church is handicap-accessible. More information about the guild and when it meets will be available at the quilt show.

Club Associates To Have First Meeting Of The Season Sept. 24

SHERIDAN — The Northern Chautauqua County Club Associates will have its first meeting of the season on Sunday, Sept. 24, at 10:30 a.m. in the Sheridan VFW, Route 20. Chris Pinkoski of Revitalize Dunkirk will be the guest speaker. She will talk about the tree situation at Point Gratiot Park. Other meetings are as follows: Oct. 22 at the Dunkirk World War II Veterans Club; Nov. 19 at the Fredonia Beaver Club; Dec. 17 at the Dunkirk Elks Lodge. The annual installation banquet is scheduled for Jan. 27 at the Lake Shore Overseas Veterans Post in Silver Creek. Any club member may attend the meetings.
