Close Due To

Bridge Work

Townline Road in the towns of Clymer and Harmony, between Brownell and Allen roads, will be closed to all traffic effective Monday. The closure is due to replacement of a bridge. A detour will be posted and the closure will remain in effect until the replacement bridge is completed.

SINCLAIRVILLE — The Cassadaga Valley Central School Board will hold a special meeting at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in the superintendent’s conference room in the district office and via zoom at https://zoom.us/j/4674970239 to discuss employment matters and the hiring of a new superintendent of schools.

BPU Announces Labor Day

The Jamestown Board of Public Utilities will be closed on Monday, Sept. 4, in observance of Labor Day. In addition, garbage and recycling will not be collected on Sept. 4. Due to the Labor Day holiday, Monday’s regular garbage and recycling collection will be delayed until Tuesday, Sept. 5. In the same way, Tuesday collection will be delayed until Wednesday; Wednesday collection will be moved to Thursday; Thursday to Friday; and Friday collection to Saturday, Sept. 9. The yard waste site, 1001 Monroe St., will be open for its regular 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 2, hours even though it is the Labor Day holiday weekend. The site will be open as usual from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 6, but will be closed on Saturday, Sept. 9, to allow for Saturday collection of garbage and recycling.

Baby Show To Be Held At

Sinclairville

History Fair

SINCLAIRVILLE — A Beautiful Baby show will be held at the Sinclairville History Fair on Sept. 9. The show will be held at 11 a.m. at the fire hall and is open to any baby under 2 years old. There will be prizes in several categories, and each baby entered will receive a small gift. There is no prior registration; just show up at the fire hall at least 15 minutes prior to the contest.

Leon Historical Society Meets Today

The Leon Historical Society will meet at 6:30 p.m. today followed at 7 p.m. by a program about the Underground Railroad in Western New York by Doug Martindale. The public is welcome to attend the meeting. On Sept. 9, the Historical Society will hold its “Amish Crawl” organized by the Amish Trail. It is an open invitation to travel around from site to site and visit the different sites promoted by the Amish Trail. The Leon Historical Society is presenting a program by the Amish ladies demonstrating the steps necessary to make a quilt. The display will be set up in the old church. The group received an Amish made quilt that is on display at the church and the group is selling tickets for it for $5 each or three tickets for $10. The drawing will take place Dec. 10 at the annual Christmas program at the 1836 Church.
