St. Luke’s Thrift Shop Open Saturday

St. Luke’s Thrift Shop, 409 Pine St. between East Fourth and East Fifth streets in Jamestown, will open this Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., for Lucy Fest, the farmer’s market and for regular customers. All summer clothing is 50% off. This week there’s a large selection of new Elvis memorabilia. Regular shopping hours are Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Off-street parking is available in the church lot. Proceeds are used for outreach locally.

Library To Host Singer Nan Hoffman

FLUVANNA — The Fluvanna Free Library will host singer Nan Hoffman on Friday at 11 a.m. The Grand Island native is known for her soprano voice and her skill with guitar and autoharp while utilizing her collection of “Books That Sing,” Hoffman’s concerts are fun, informative and encourage audience participation. The performance, titled, Songs for Kindness and Friendship, complements the 2023 summer reading program theme of “All Together Now!” and will focus on songs about getting along with each other and resolving conflicts peacefully. There will be songs about sharing, self-esteem, and consideration for others while promoting ideas for creating peaceful households, classrooms, neighborhoods and love of the environment. The Fluvanna Free Library is located at 3532 Fluvanna Ave. For information, call the library at 716-487-1773 or email info@fluvannalibrary.org. Historical Society To Host Lawn Sale

BEMUS POINT — The Bemus Point Historical Society will host a fundraising lawn sale on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the society museum on Alburtus Avenue in Bemus Point.

Group To Meet At Russell Church

The Jamestown-Warren Christian Women Village Missions Country Partners will meet Tuesday, Aug. 8, at Praise Fellowship Church, Russell, Pa., from noon to 2 p.m. The spiritual speaker will be Khlare Bracken of Warren County Christian School. Music will be by Vi Birchard. Bring a $1 brown bag item for exchange. Donations and offerings support Village Missions ministry to train pastors to serve failing or establish non-existent community churches in rural areas across the nation. Sewer Meeting Set For Aug. 8

Church To Hold Ice Cream Social

The annual ice cream social by Kiantone Congregational Church will be held Tuesday, Aug. 8, from 4:30-7 p.m. on the lawn by the church. Hot dogs, homemade cake, and ice cream sundaes will be served. Grandmas attic, bake sale, and a quilt summer cottage raffle will be held to benefit missions.
