Mayor To Discuss Public Safety Initiative
Jamestown Mayor Eddie Sundquist, Director of Public Safety and Police Chief Tim Jackson, along with community organizations will be holding a press conference today to announce a new public safety initiative. The press conference will be at 5 P.M. outside the Jamestown Police Department, 201 E Second St.
Food Pantry, Clothing Closet Is Open Today
KENNEDY — The Kennedy United Methodist Food Pantry and Clothing Closet will be open today from 6 to 8 p.m.
School Board Meets Today
The Southwestern Central School Board of Education will meet at 4 p.m. today in the board room in the Southwestern Middle School, 600 Hunt Road. The public is welcome to attend.
Planning Commission Meeting Rescheduled
The Jamestown Planning Commission meeting scheduled for this week has been moved. The new meeting date is 3:30 p.m. June 27 in the police training room on the fourth floor of Jamestown City Hall. The public is welcome to attend.
War Vets To Host Gathering
The CLRAACA will have its monthly general meeting on Wednesday at the War Vets Recreation Club in Fluvanna. Pizza and pop will be served starting at 6:30 p.m. This will be the last general meeting until September. Those attending do not have to own an antique auto to attend; anyone with an interest in antique automobiles is welcome.
Author Night At Hazeltine Library Set For Thursday
BUSTI — Author night at the Hazeltine Public Library continues Thursday with Adrienne J. Ploss. Ploss will be at the library for the 6:30 p.m. event and will have her book for sale and signing. Ploss has written “Go Back, You Forgot The Flowers” — the full circle story of the history of her family farm Hickory Hurst and the events that brought her back home to continue the farming tradition. Area residents may recognize the name of the book as the same words that grace the sandwich board outside her Route 394 farm stand. The event is free, open to the public with no reservations required. Author nights conclude June 29 with Deb Pine.
Jazz Ensemble Show Canceled At Library
SINCLAIRVILLE — The previously scheduled performance of the CVCS Jazz Ensemble to be held at Sinclairville Free Library on Thursday, June 22, has been canceled. The library will be closed Monday, June 19, in recognition of Juneteenth. An online book club discussion of “The Great Gatsby” by F. Scott Fitzgerald will be held via Zoom on Monday, June 26, at 7:30 p.m. Contact the library at info@sinclairvillelibrary.org for a link to join the discussion.
