Public Library To HostLocal Author Showcase
BUSTI — The local author showcase, hosted by the Hazeltine Public Library, continues this week with an appearance by Deb Madar. Madar, a Bemus Point resident, has written a series of mystery novels featuring Merrill Conner. She will be at the the Hazeltine Public Library today to talk about her books and the writing process she uses. The evening will include book sales and signing. The event is free, open to the public and will begin at 6:30 p.m. The Hazeltine Public Library is located at 891 Busti-Sugar Grove Road, Jamestown, and can be reached at 716-487-1281. Author Addrienne J. Ploss will present on June 22 followed by Deb Pine on June 29.

Lake Treatment Begins Today
Starting today, and lasting between one and two days, Solitude Lake Management will be applying the herbicide ProcellaCOR EC to control invasive eurasian watermilfoil in portions of Chautauqua Lake adjacent to Shore Acres in Ellery and portions of Lakewood and Busti. Of the 362 acres requested, the state DEC has approved treatment in 115 acres in these sites. The application will not restrict swimming, fishing or potable use of lake water, but will restrict irrigation of plants until herbicide concentrations have dissipated.

Services For
Two Weeks
Park Methodist Church of Sinclairville, Park Methodist Church of Cassadaga and Bemus Point Methodist Church will be holding a joint worship service Sunday, June 18, at Lakeside Park in Bemus Point at 10 a.m. After the service, attendees are invited to stay for baptisms and a free lunch. Those who come are asked to bring a lawn chair.
On Sunday, June 25, those same three churches will hold a joint service at 10 a.m. at Park Church, Sinclairville’s new building the Bridge. After the service will be a meal. Attendees are asked to bring a dish to pass. The meat, beverage and table service will be provided.

Host Saturday Chicken BBQ
SHERMAN — Sherman Community Church, 107 Church St., will hold a chicken barbecue on Saturday starting at 4 p.m. The cost is $15, eat in or take out. There will also be a bake sale in support of Mission Kenya 2023.
Bemus Point Track Club To Host 5K Run
On Saturday
BEMUS POINT — The Bemus Point Track Club and the Bemus Point Inn will host the Buns on the Run 5K starting at 9 a.m. Saturday. The run begins in Bemus Point Village Park at 1 Lakeside Drive in Bemus Point. Both a 5K Run and a 5K Walk will be available.
