Library To Celebrate World Knit Day

To celebrate World Knit In Public Day, the Fluvanna Free Library invites all knitters and crocheters to join us at the library to knit and crochet for charity on Saturday, July 10th. The group will begin at 11 a.m. The goal is to make numerous 9-inch squares that will be assembled into lap throws for patients in Roswell. Bring needles, hooks, and any yarn looking for a project. USA BMX To Hold Free Registration Event

ELLERY –USA BMX is holding a free registration event from 3:30 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Charlie’s BMX, 4400.5 Dutch Hollow Road, Ellery Center. The event is a chance for those who may be interested in BMX racing to get a sneak peek into what members can expect at their local track. There is no cost. First-timers can borrow a loaner BMX bike and helmet (or bring their own) and take a spin on the track to get a taste of what BMX riding is all about. All participants receive a certificate.

Chicken BBQ Set For Sunday

A chicken barbecue will be held Sunday, June 11, at the ILS Veterans Club on Fluvanna Avenue next to Arby’s beginning at noon until sold out. Dinners will include a half chicken basted with the signature barbecue sauce, applesauce and a roll. Sides include a choice of roasted potatoes, macaroni salad or baked beans. The cost for a full dinner is $14; chicken only is $10.

Allegheny Outdoor Club To Hike Trail

On Sunday, the Allegheny Outdoor Club will hike the Anders Run Trail. The group will will meet at 1:30 p.m. at the Anders Run trailhead on the Dunns Eddy road, Irvine. Earl Ross will be the leader of the event and can be reached at 814-726-3920 or 814-706-5908 for any questions.

School Boards To Hold Joint Meeting

MAYVILLE — Members of the Chautauqua Lake Central School Board will hold a joint board meeting at 6 p.m. with the Ripley Central School Board on Wednesday, June 14, in the secondary library at CLCS. Chautauqua Lake’s regular board meeting will follow.
