BPU Garbage/Recycling

Collection Delayed by One Day All Week, due to Memorial Day Holiday

The Jamestown Board of Public Utilities (BPU) is closed on Monday, May 29, for the Memorial Day weekend. In addition, garbage and recycling employees will not be collecting on Monday. Due to the holiday, Monday’s garbage and recycling collection will be delayed until Tuesday, May 30. In the same way, Tuesday collection will be delayed until Wednesday; Wednesday collection will be moved to Thursday; Thursday to Friday; and Friday collection to Saturday. The Yard Waste Site, 1001 Monroe St., will be open for its regular 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday hours even though Monday is a holiday. Customers who need to pay bills after-hours are reminded that online payments may be made by credit card, debit card and e-check at www.jamestownbpu.com. Telephone payments may be made by calling 661-1660, ext. 3, with credit card or debit card. Customers also may leave checks or money orders in drop-off boxes located in the BPU Parking Lot across from the Customer Service Office, 92 Steele Street; outside City Hall on Tracy Plaza; and in the Jamestown Police Department vestibule. Payments left after-hours should only be made by check or money orders with identification on the payments. For reports of trouble in all BPU Divisions, all hours, customers may call 716-661-1640. During regular business hours, such calls may be made to Customer Service at 716-661-1660.

Rummage Sale To Be Held

June 2-3

WATTS FLATS — The Watts Flats United Methodist Church will be having its annual rummage sale on Friday and Saturday, June 2-3, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the church, located at 866 Blockville-Watts Flats Road, Ashville. There are many items to choose from available for a donation. Lunch will be available to purchase.

Woods Walk At Boutwell Hill State Forest Scheduled For June 3

CHERRY CREEK — The AFC Chapter of the New York State Forest Owners will host a woods walk at the Boutwell Hill State Forest on June 3 starting at 9 a.m. The tour will focus on beech brush treatments and is expected to last until noon. Presenters are state DEC foresters Ricky Sylvestro, Theresa Draves and Jeff Brockelbank. Those interested can meet on Ruttenbur Road at the Lewis Road parking lot.

Rummage Sale To Be Held

CASSADAGA — Cassadaga American Legion Unit 1280 will be holding its seventh annual rummage and bake sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 3, at the post, 228 Maple Ave., Cassadaga. A bag sale begins at 1 p.m. The post will accept items for the rummage sale from 2 to 7 p.m. May 31 through June 2. will be accepting items from May 31-June 2 from 2:00- 7:00 pm.
