Free Non-Profit Webinar Today
A free webinar at 4 p.m. today presented by Rural Minds and the National Grange will focus on the challenges faced by rural mental health caregivers. Rural Minds, a non-profit organization based in Mayville, is focused exclusively on mental health challenges in rural America. Today’s webinar will spotlight rural mental health caregivers, those who care for a loved one with a mental health condition while confronting barriers that are unique to life in rural America. The webinar will feature independent filmmaker Travis Carlson, a 2009 graduate of Cassadaga Valley Central School, who will discuss his award-winning film, Mother’s Day, which was shot entirely in Gerry. Also speaking is Brittnee Henry, a mental health caregiver and advocate, who grew up on a farm in Iowa that was home to her family for 130 years. After pursuing her career and being away for 20 years, she came back to the farm last year to care for her father, who lives with dementia. Registration is free by visiting ruralminds.org.
