First Lutheran Church To Host Services

First Lutheran Church will hold several Holy Week services, including a Maundy Thursday service on Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the church’s Memorial Chapel. The service of Holy Communion will feature the Holy Week liturgy, prayers, hymns, the stripping of the altar, and a choral anthem sung by the First Lutheran Choir entitled “Into the Woods My Master Went” arranged by Austin Lovelace. A foot-washing ceremony will also take place for those who desire to participate. Pastor Mark E. Swanson will deliver the sermon and he will preside at the service. Brian A. Bogey, organist/choirmaster, will be at the organ and direct the choir. The Good Friday service will also take place in the Memorial Chapel at 7 p.m. Friday. Psalm 88 will be sung responsively by the congregation, prayers will be offered, and Holy Week hymns will also be sung by the congregation. The sermon will be given by the Rev. Mark E. Swanson, pastor. The public is welcome to attend both of these Holy Week services.

Annual City Easter Egg Hunt Set For Saturday

The Jamestown Parks, Recreation and Conservation Department has scheduled its annual Easter Egg Hunt to take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 8, at Allen Park. The free event will be held in the upper level of the park where the playgrounds are located. If weather conditions do not allow the event to take place outside, the event be moved inside the Allen Park Ice Rink. All children 12 years of age and under are invited to attend. Church To Hold Sunday Service

Kiantone Congregational Church will hold a Son Rise service at 7 a.m. on Sunday, April 9. Following the service, a breakfast of homemade blueberry pancakes with the trimmings will be served. All are welcomed to attend.

Allen Cemetery Cleanup Begins

The Allen Cemetery is notifying all owners that their lots must be cleaned up no later than April 30. Please discard all decorations and other items that are still in place. This cleanup will assist the superintendent and others as it allows for summer maintenance to begin. The Allen Cemetery is located on Willard Street Extension, Jamestown.

Book Club Meetings Set For This Month

WESTFIELD — The Patterson Library in Westfield will hold four book club meetings in April, including today’s meeting of the Best Sellers club at 6:30 p.m. featuring “The Marriage Portrait” by Maggie O’Farrell. Upcoming meetings include the Literary Circle at 10 a.m. Saturday featuring “In the Garden of Beasts” by Erik Larson; Mystery on April 19 at 4 p.m. featuring “Woman in the Library” by Susan Gentill; and the Wanderlust club on April 27 at 4 p.m. featuring “Less” by Andrew Sean Greer.
