Becky Nystrom To Give

Presentation

On Wednesday

LAKEWOOD — The Lakewood Memorial Library will welcome Becky Nystrom, retired Jamestown Community College biology professor, for a presentation on Woodland Wildflowers on Wednesday at 5 p.m. The program will visually explore how local woodland wildflowers are deeply woven into a springtime story of oft-hidden beauty, ecological interconnectedness, and survival. Free of charge and open to the public.

Csellak To Speak At Noon Lenten Service

The Rev. Laura Csellak, chaplain at Lutheran, will be the guest speaker at the midweek noon-time Lenten Service at First Lutheran Church this coming Wednesday. The Lenten services are sponsored by the Southwestern Conference Lutherans and will be held in the Memorial Chapel, which is handicap accessible. The noon service will be followed by a soup, salad and pie luncheon in the church parlors for a nominal fee. The luncheon is sponsored by the First Lutheran Altar Society. The public is welcome to attend.

Falconer Library Board Meets Thursday

FALCONER — The Falconer Public Library’s next board meeting will be at 8 a.m. Thursday in the library, 101 W. Main St., Falconer. The public is welcome to attend.

Spaghetti Dinner Set For Sunday

FORESTVILLE — The St. Rose of Lima annual spaghetti dinner will be Sunday from noon until sold out at 11 Center St. Dinners are $10 each and are eat-in or take out.

Fredonia Legion Planning Bingo Party

FREDONIA — The Sons of the American Legion Post 59, 156 E. Main St., Fredonia, is holding a ham and sausage bingo party on Saturday starting at 6 p.m. There will be free hot dogs by Duper. Commander Rodney Dziduch will be calling the numbers with his usual charm and entertainment. All proceeds will assist with Post 59 functions and Boys and Girls State sponsorships. Members and guests are welcome to attend.

SUNY Fredonia To Host Car Seat Safety Check

SUNY Fredonia University Police and the Chautauqua Safety Village are teaming up to conduct a free car seat safety check on Saturday, March 25, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Facilities Services complex on campus. The complex is off the campus Ring Road, adjacent to the University Village Townhouses. A campus map can be found online at https://www.fredonia.edu/about/campus-maps. Certified technicians will inspect each car and show how to properly install a car seat. Booster seats reduce the risk of nonfatal injuries by 45% among 4- to 8-year-old children when compared to the seat belt alone. However, car seats and booster seats are improperly installed or misused 46% of the time.
